question about evening pass and wife/significant others

im interested in attending and bringing my wife

she doesn't play any soe games at all but would like to attend the more nightly social finctionas along with me

(during the day she is planning to visit friends we have in the area)

i noticed the evening pass is $80 and is for friday night only it seems or is it for both friday and saturday nights together?

since two evening passes at $80 a peice would cost more than a reg pass at $125 then itd be cheaper to get that but seems a waste as she certainly won't be attending any of the daytime functions...

well lol its going to be alot harder to convince the ol girl if i can't take her to the banquet and costume ball on saturday as these are the things she sees that she is likely to enjoy.

any advice on the subject is appreciated thx.

Hello,

The evening pass for $80 is for Friday night only. We are not selling separate passes to the Saturday night banquet / costume contest, as we are trying to keep this a special event for our players who want to attend the whole Fan Faire. Even if we did sell passes to the Saturday night affair, we'd have to charge at least $60 to cover our costs, which, added together with the Friday night pass, would be more expensive than just purchasing the Classic pass for $125.00. So, the only advice I can give you is to get her a Classic pass. And who knows, maybe she'll decide to come to some daytime events and end up having a great time!

well tommorow thru the weekend...possibly beyond.... i have unwittingly promised babysitting, dishwashing, cooking, housekeeping, and foot massage services whilest she engages in the arduous task of beginning and playing some version of character (heheh i have suggested a halfling bard (troubador) as she plays viola in rl anyways...which btw brought me to an interesting idea on the subject of fiddles...

as a dual weilded weapon for bards lol

in one hand : the bow could be used as a piercer (obviously to poke) and a slasher (the bowstring could be considered a sharp edge (its a fantasy game after all))

in the other : the body of the instrument could be used as a blunt weapon also slightly stunning a victim with its walloping hollow tone....

and used together could initiate spells and such negating their more melee purposes during such time...

sry i realize this isnt the right board for this and i may throw it onto the scout forum in eq2 after a bit, lol if you think it worth the bother anyway...?

for the wife : lol how noob friendly will the fanfaire be, hehehe sry had to ask that way, but serious question, i mean, will she be completely lost in a sea of gamespeak and feel alienated i wonder....and is really a concern because i really don't want to turn her off to the gaming, for the record im a fairly avid gamer, longtime eqplayer (both) and planetside player also, she however isn't....i really don't intend to sound at all negative here...its just a question...

is the fanfaire a industry seminar or simply a fanbased fair? or possibly a mixture?

what's meant by "roundtable discussions"?

are the talks or seminars conceptual in nature or are they about current ingame facts and figures?

really i have alot of other questions as well...anything anyone would care to add about past experiences or visions of the current fanfaire would be cool thx

Green, I would not worry about it. She should have a great time. Not ALL conversation is about the game. I remember sitting in a bar and we were talking about...um..nm. Game. OK, I was sitting at the dinner table and we were talking about...um...NM, game. OK there was this one time in band camp....Ummm..

Trust me, she will have a blast.

While most discussions center around the games you play, there are lots of general life discussions going on, and honestly there is always a wife, husband, friend, relative along for the ride that is either just getting started or hasn't played at all... Its good that she is playing a bit now, a Halfling Troubador is a great choice, Brenlo would be proud.... The more you can convince her to play the more she will be able to participate in the conversations, and the newbie experience for EQII is really new gamer friendly...

In the past it's been a fan based affair however I believe the direction this time is going to be bit more industry based as well.... So I would say a good mixture of both.

These are new to the Fan Faire, generally speaking its table full of people discussing a specific topic that the person running it thought up. These can be anything, such as Station Exchange, MMO gaming in general, PVP etc....

Your wife is going to have a blast, Fan Faire is something you have to experience at least once in your life. I can't wait to meet you both, I think I will be working in the Information booth most of the weekend, stop by and say hello :smileyhappy:

a lvl 1 very nooblish gnomish dirge (and hmm she picked a dirge out of the two btw and i gnome, though id suggested several races) named Adonteness, on Nafagan...hehehe we're going to break the ol girl straight into PVP for the crash course.
the interesting and most hopeful sign is that i'd "quickened the process" for her somewhat by basicly adjusting facial features and left the hairstyle up to her to make it easy, i left the room to adjust a child (did i mention the babysitting end of the bargain?)....anyway i come back in the room and she is going thru and readjusting each setting, lol nose-tilt and all lol, a good sign in my book that she wanted the "detail of personae" that is the very first glimmer of a dawning character development, kids eventually gained ground this evening and squelched the project as i began to explain movement to her...1st and 3rd person...the diff mousekeys and scroll...etc...i forgot to recheck or uncheck the tutorial (/smacks self in head) maybe remake the toon tommorow with it checked but lol i don't want to spoil the "original" she has created lol i may jinx it lol.....there is some definate hope here and lol im going to put out the word to welcome her on the appropriate boards (ehem the pvp ones) to get a few hellos from both factions....hopefully i can get some peeps ingame to flirt with her alot that are fairly suave with emotesheheheh...i don't think getting her ganked is going to be a prob though...lol

lol thats actually even funnier considering my seeming perpetual solo status (hoping to change up to a duo with the wife but have alot of /mentoring to do)
i have been known to say that the only place a solo style really "needs" a multiple player game is on a PVP server...someone has to be the target lol...

um one or two more questions about planning and then im on to badgering about specifics of the schedule heheh jk...

i was thinking of buying two gold passes and have my wife attend the dev brunch along with me, any way to make sure we are scheduled for the same brunch?

side note : she is doing ok at playing the dirge, is at lvl 8 and about to leave the isle...and in for a crash course in pvp...but i think she'll hold up well.

another question on planning, i have seen a few posts indicating that the marriot where the faire is being held is currently booked...is this true? i'd rather not have to bother with any commuting personally, and want to stay close to the action heheh

yep i called thurs nite is booked solid, they still have soe rooms available for fri and sat nights, i booked a room about 12 miles away at another hotel for theurs nite, hope it isn't too hairy an inner city drive lol, maybe i'll just make my wife designated driver on thurs and i'll take the fri and sat shifts since we won't likely leave the hotel.....agn thx for the help
