Normally we don’t announce our new Marketplace items until they are live, but some are just so cool we have to spill the beans early. That’s certainly the case with the Heraldry Flag Backpack, which gives you an all new way to show off your guild allegiance! Not only does the Heraldry Flag Backpack appear as a stylish, functional backpack, where you can store your valuables, but the banner on the pole changes to match your Guild’s Emblem.

...and if someone wanted to display their heraldry, why wouldn't they just have it displayed on their cloak?

Sorry, this one did not need the beans spilled early.  Nor is it going to distract from the raging from players who haven't been paying attention and don't know we're losing crit mit tomorrow (which is the only reason I can think of for making an early announcement).

Actually, there are a lot of clipping issues with mounts and weapons and cloaks. See this thread for more info and screenshots:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=515520

That said, appearance backpacks are on of the few items that don't interfer with mounts. I've started using the Tinkered Backpack as an appearance item so I don't have to constantly see my 2 handed sword cut into my mounts side or the end of my cloak slice through the back of my horse.

So, a backpack that displays your guild emblem is a workaround that many might appreciate.

Can we get a feature to upload a picture to be our Guilds Heraldry instead of using the current in game ones please

Sorry but that backpack just looks silly to me and not something that I would ever use.

I do use the adventurer backpack on several character but the backpacks always revert back to the cloak graphic when zoning. I wonder if these will do the same?

I would much rather see a shield, or selection of shield types ( kite, tower, buckler ), that displayed our guild heraldry on them.

I am completely MEH about this.  It is about as exciting as a root canal.  Maybe if SOE would actually make guild heraldy worth something I might be more excited, but the cloaks we have make the heraldy look like some 1st grader drew them.  Why would I want to dispaly that on my backback...

You can kep your backpack.  But if you would like to make guild heraldy actually worht something...

Shields with heraldry (bucklers, kite, tower) I would spend SC to acquire, for at least one character.  Said shield, with heraldry being able to be mounted and placed in your guild hall or home, priceless, I'd spend again.  I'd like to imagine that something coded that way is already in the works / has been discussed.

This substitution for that, though probably appealing to a number of players, is not going to have near the draw and not make nearly the number of micro-transactions the accountants would hope to see.

This type of heraldic display certainly has a precedent, historically and in fantasy settings and thank you for putting it in and giving us the option.  But, if you had asked us first, put those polls to use you e-mail out in game we would have probably opted for another direction and not for a "fantasy antenna flag".

You're core, and therefore subscriber, base is not getting younger (I should know, I feel that everyday) and aside from the obligatory, "My Kid Beat Up Your Honor Student" bumper sticker, we're not so much into this type of display anymore.  The assassin's backplack though, well done, it "fits" the environment of Norrath.

So much drama over a simple in-game backpack with guild heraldry attached to it. Haha

(looks neat, but still don't think it's "Sneak Peak" worthy...)

Not sure why people seem to feel a must to voicing an opinion as drama.  But oh well.  Still think that they could spend there resources on better stuff.  Like actually making heraldy mean something again.  It was great when it came out but like so many SOE ideas, it fell by the wayside and was never developed further.  So to put out a backpack that has said herday on it really does not do any justice to a dead function of the game.  I rarely if ever see anyone even displaying there heraldy anymore because there are much much much better options out there.

1) Sorry. I thought many people these days seem to just grumble first, then 'my reply/argument was constructive, reasonable enough. Why don't you mind your own business?' later. 'Cause it's easy to do that.

And wasn't even refering to everybody in this thread. (well, believe it or not..)

Oh, and for the record, I don't like both fanboi and cynic.

2) Seems to me that there are always some people who often say like "WT* with Crit Mit and quest bugs and class balance?" to artists, and "fix the broken art asset now" to programmers and coders. Not that I wish them stop, but fun to watch sometimes.

3) It's also not a introduction of game-breaking mechanic. Just tinyyyyyyyy option for someone who might like this kinda fluff. Yeah the dev time could've been used for something else not silly-looking(something a lot cooler), but how can anyone surprise people each and every time?

Looks kinda silly IMHO to be honest. Reminds me of the stuff hikers or mountain climbers wear...or makes me want to shout "Medic" or "radioman." lol

This would be abused way too easily after a time with grotesque pictures or other ones ... I can name a few right off the bat.

I see this ... and wonder if we're in feudal Japan .... not my thing (I never really liked the backpacks anyway)

This is horrid.  Besides the fact it just looks silly, the heraldries are severely outdated so it makes it even worse.

So the backpack itself doesn't display the heraldry, just some tacky flag does? I think I'll pass.

What does it display if you have no guild heraldry? Just plain white I assume. A flag of surrender seems appropriate lately.

Backpack is resonable cosmetic option with a few perks.  The flag NOT being one of them.

Color changeable backpack with a virtually sewn on guild logo... much better idea IMO but... who asked me or us?

For the record... I like it (ish)... if the flag isn't optionalremovable... I hate it.

Happy Hiking SMILEY

SKiN.

Oh and Yes Sony... a 'less' highschool looking backpack may have been a little more favored in a fantasy world.

uh... I will buy it, if you release red Samurai/asian Armor ( like eq1 Iksar armor )

Backpack ok, Flag ok, but mismatch.   I think, this flag should be with asian taste backpack, like "Hua Mein Traditional Backpack". or change Flag design.

Probably never going to happen...can you imagine the "TTC" for such an item (TTC = time to....well see http://rubenfield.com/?p=89 ). They would have to be manually approved by a GM so it would not be cheap, if they decided to offer it at all, or else you just know some people would choose certain parts of the human anatomy as their guild flag. Or for example Mickey Mouse, which would be trouble for them...Disney has way more lawyers than SOE. SMILEY

This pattern is getting old fast.....

In about a month or two this backpack can be unpack into a glider for mere 2500SC, and in about another mouth it'll come with a engine so you can fly with it for another 2500SC, you hear it from me first.

I think it's unique and different. Since I never wear cloaks on some of my characters because of wing clipping issues, it would be a way I could show off the guild heraldry.. if my guild cared to have something decent.

I've seen some really nice guild herald designs that would go well on that pack , but I'm not in those guilds *chuckle*
