Greetings,

 As I just found out that EQ2 had went f2p and having not played in 3 years i decided to bite the bullet and go gold to re-live some old memories - everything went smoothly my account was upgraded and I downloaded the streaming client, then I logged in and things went pear shaped I got this message

"You need to setup a subscription."

I was like Why? I just did setup a subscription and I have the email infront of me welcoming me back to Everquest 2 lol - seriously anyone got an explanation for this as being the weekend I cannot get live support?

Why did you install the streaming client? Did you not have the full game already?

No I lost that many, many moons ago - I gather from your question i should purchase a fresh copy of the install disk is that what is causing my problem?

Probing questions... If you have the space and bandwidth you should use the full installer. Links are available searching the SoE knowledge base for everquest 2 installer.

You would best be served in the Account Related Support forum.

Hmm yes I could well download the entire client, but that doesn't answer my question am I unable to play my old account that I have succesfully resubscribed to using the streaming client?

As I gather there is no full download client anymore, which is fine because the streaming client works perfectly fine now, though I would still let the whole game pre-download to prevent annoying lag spikes.

@OP I would just wait and get support, sounds like something may have went wrong when they converted your account to Silver.

This is kind of correct, there is just one client now and I believe it has a switch to set it of full download, or streaming.

I have only ever used full download, so can't confirm this 100%

You should be able to log into the client with your username and password even if you're still flagged as silver (it's free to play afterall).

Just make sure your patcher looks like this: http://eq2wire.com/2011/12/06/launc...t-today-really/

Just incase you got hold of an old one by some chance.

Otherwise I'm not sure what else to suggest - the same login and password you use for the forums should get you into the EQ2 client, it that's not working, it's very strange.

It is very strange as you say I can log into the forum and post but cannot log into the game, the client I have works as I made another account and was able to login no problems.

The annoying thing is I have convinced 2 friends from college to set up accounts and that I would play along side them using my high level character (given EQ2 fab mentor system) I had a problem last week with my account being suspennded, I manage to get this sorted out with custom server live support (my account had been comprimised)

With that fixed I thought I would have no more problems, then I get this "You need to setup a subscription." given that I have paid now for gold membership I am a wee tad annoyed - had I not been able to create another account and play with my friends I would have been more than  little annoyed SMILEY

I guess no one works weekends at SOE - disappointing, by monday that will be nearly 3 days since I re-opened my account and I haven't been able to play SMILEY

sorry for beating a dead horse, i just want to make sure we are all on the same page. you mention above that you have the 'client', by that do you mean the Launcher? or perhaps you are using the executable inside the game download folder? logging in with the executable might cause a problem. however, it should send you to the Launcher.

just curious, hope something works out for you soon, i know how frustrating things like this can be.

When I say client I mean the one I got from the link after I resubbed, I am launching it via the shortcut created on the desktop after installing it.

I'm more frustrated than anything else, I've paid for something I cannot play and going by the response from SOE I'm guessing they don't have a customer support team for weekends..

This isn't off-topic as using the properly installed full or streaming launcher and finding out if the OP already had the game installed is important. Your telling people twice now that there is no full installer, despite me doing the work of linking it for those too lazy to look it up themselves, is just foolish.

Your right Brigh the link I got via my payment email gave me the option of Full or streaming, I opted for streaming as I wanted to get straight into the game with my friends and not have to wait 24 hours, but given they gave me the option of streaming I assumed that meant I could use this format..

If you install from a clean installation, with no previous installation on this computer, the only thing I can think of is that there is an account error somewhere (your end or SoE's end).
