Ive come back to play after being gone for a couple of years, and after tooling around I'm ready to stay and re-enjoy all that Norrath has to offer.

I wanted to get back into "test" server only some how I've really managed to screw things up.    (It's what I do lol)

Somewhere I read or got some instruction (I've forgotten where or who) to go into my files and copy them to the test folder.  When it didnt seem to work, I did it again, thinking somehow it didn't work.  I'm getting messages that there is not enough room for the game, when I know I have tons of room.  My computer is old, but dangit I have still tons of room.

Then lastnight I read one of the little helpful "DID YOU KNOW" tidbit that it was as easy and clicking Test on my screen when logging on.  Heck I didnt see anything close to that.

I realllllly want to get back into test, could someone please give me idiot proof instructions so I can get into test?

Short of deleting all my files and reinstalling im lost on what to do.

Thanks in advance for the patient SAINT who decides to help SMILEY

I am still seeing people say they can't get to the test server with their launchers... Where is a stickie with instruction on how to access the test server for the non geeek? We can't test and increase the test population without some way to get people able to get here and to test copy.

Only our Streaming LaunchPad currently has a supported means of accessing the Test Server.

The full download version shares the file structure of Station launcher and previous methods, but does not include a means of installing the test server at this time.

To access Test from our Streaming LaunchPad, you log in and click Options. Change the Region to Test Server which should be last on the drop down.

There are no current instructions on how to do so as it no longer takes additional steps, just a simple region change from the LP options.

I've included a link for our latest LaunchPad right here. I'll also have a sticky up on the support forums shortly.

Characters and servers are locked at the moment, while the game update and expansion are being made live.  It may still take a while...LOL

And the $64,000 question remains:

Will we get an extra day of Frostfell because of this?

Or the option to somehow get our hands on some FF crafting stations for the purpose of carrying the spirit of Frostfell in our hearts throughout the year (and not just again on April Fool's--er, Bristlebane's Day) and make gifts for our friends before December even rolls around, like in real life (with the necessity of still having to go to The Village to get more materials, fuel, daily gifties, quests, and E'ci Token shopping not really detracting from the holiday season)? Will Frostfell Season start in 2012 on Black Friday (at least on Test), like in real life, and continue on through Twelfth Night (first weekend in January) even so? ;->

Okay, okay, so those others are more like $1.50 questions after the big one, but still valid, I think. ;->

It's never long enough Feldon ;p

On the new launcher, you just need to switch to public test and it'll download Test in your TestServer folder within the EQ2 Folder.

The "test launcher" will download the game in a TestServer folder that can be outside of your regular EQ2 Folder.

Exemple:

You want Test server in D:/game/TestServer

If you point to D:/game/TestServer, it'll install in D:/game/TestServer/TestServer

So you need to point to D:/game/ to get it to install in your preexisting TestServer folder

Frostfell is already far too long. Mid-December to Twelfth Night should be the limit.

However, as the downtime is already more than 24 hours, hopefully there'll be extra time for the City Festival.

I hope so too, there are some items I would like to obtain on AB server... once I'm able to log in to AB as Free to Play.

Frostfell already ends January 3rd I believe so no need to extend that.  I do agree an extra day for New Halas City festival would be nice.  But this is derailing the thread ....

What's unnerving me is the length of time it's taking, the idea that I can't get it to "point" anywhere (very non-transparent, IMHO), and it seems to be INSTALLING (according to the button). I really, really hope that means they're basically moving my existing files (nine characters on Test, that I've been playing for over a year now), rather than overwriting them? :-/

Oh well, it's finally done; guess I'll find out... ::crossing fingers::

Uwk

EDIT: woot! Everyone's still there. Whew. That was nerve-wracking ... and way too difficult to find my way to Test in the first place.  Well do I remember the old days, when it was a nice, solid button labeled "Test Server" that one could press ... sigh. :-/
