launcher does not launch

Everything works fine. I start the launcher, I can get all updates and see my characters. But when I hit the play button, it says "launching game" and nothing happens.

This is an old desktop that I have played EQ2 on before. I just drug it out and set it up.

As you stated you can see your characters before you hit play, I must assume you are on our older LaunchPad. We do have an up to date LaunchPad for Everquest II available at the link below. I recommend the full download version, specifying to install a new copy but directing it to your existing EQII game folder.
