Hi there,

I just installed an ATI HD 6770 graphics card, installed latest Catalyst drivers, and June 2010 DX9 (per this thread). I run Win7 64 bit.

However, my plate armor that used to appear mirrored now looks like white plastic (screenshot taken on "Balanced" performance):

It still has some reflection, but it doesn't have the right reflective quality.

I even tried turning performance to "Extreme Quality" briefly, and it still looks like white plastic armor. So it's not some setting that's tuned too low.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Another computer in our home has this same model of graphics card (but different Windows version and other components), and my armor looks correctly mirror-like, so I know the graphics card is capable of it.

Thanks!

FWIW, I can see through windows in houses, and the wall-hung mirrors are reflective.

I think "mirror-like" armor uses some different graphics technology, though. Hoping someone has seen this before. :/

Can you disable the ATI Catalyst AI option and see if that makes a difference?  It's caused some issues in the past.

Hi Joshua,

No luck. It's not even an option to disable Catalyst AI in the Catalyst Control Center that comes with the latest drivers.

I tried setting it to "High quality" and unchecking "Enable Surface Format Optimization", but still no metallic reflection.

I also tried the XML and regedit changes suggested in this post to disable Catalyst AI manually, and still no metallic reflection.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I solved the issue by reinstalling EQ2. Moved from station launcher installation, to streaming launcher. Works great, mirrored armor and all. So must've been some kind of corrupt install.

Thanks.
