Where's the best place to start?

I've been away from EQ2 for a long time, and I've never played EQ1. Where should I go to get some comprehensive lore in an easy to read format? I've been browsing this forum for a bit, and it all seems to be mainly geared for those who already know a lot of what's going on, or bullet-point timelines.

Well, you could start by using the Lore Atheneum website to find out more about whatever race or class you find the most interest in, and spread out from there as you play your character through the game.
