![]() I recently installed the final version of Internet Explorer 9 on my PC. After installing, my launchpad always fail whenever I tried to log in. The error message is a follows: "Unable to connect to login server. Please try again later." I have tried all of the standard trouble shooting stuff just in case it was a settings change or something along those lines but so far nothing has made a difference. The things I have tried are:
In the end, I had to uninstall IE9 and then the launchpad started working again. At this stage I have assume that launchpad is simply not compatible with IE9 although, if that was the case, I would have expected to see more complaints here on the message boards. Perhaps there is something specific to my setup but I don't know what else I can do to find it. My machine is pretty standard:

![]() I posted a similiar issue on connection loging thread. i am thinking it has something to do with adobe10 active x. I wish this would get fixed as I upgraded on Monday, did not play last night, and looks like I wont be playing again tonight. Good thing I can log into other games atm though. I continue to get an "Unable to contact login server" - my old PC that the wife plays on was not upgraded to IE9 and the adobe 10 active x and she is able to login in.

![]() I'll see what information I can get regarding IE9 and the ActiveX updates. I am not part of the QA process and do not have that information handy at the moment.

![]() I ahve now completely uninstalled EQ2, un installed IE9 and installed Mozilla, I then clicked on the link for the streaming client and still get the: Unable to contact login server. I can play everyother game I own, I can surf the net but I cannot play eq2 - this is getting frustrating and going on 2 days now.

What this sounds like now that it is definitely not IE9 at fault is a possible security feature blocking your access. This can be, but is not limited to, Firewall, Antivirus, Security Suite Software, or possible needed router configuration. I understand that another person on your network can play just fine so I would rule out the router configuration and look over what security software you have present. If a previous exception was made for your firewall, I would remove it and re-add it or disable the firewall altogether. Same with anything else you have made changes to for this game.

His problem might not be IE9 but mine still seems to be. Started with IE8, launchpad working fine. Install IE9, unable to connect to login server (only from launch pad though). Uninstall IE9, launchpad works fine again. I will try installing IE9 again over the weekend when there are no patches to see if the problem comes back. I will set logging to verbose this time so I hopefully get a better idea of what is going on. |

Dan Kinney over at the Launchpad support forums is pretty responsive, might want to post over there about it. Have not seen any reports of IE9 issues over there

![]() I have discovered what is causing the problem and now have a work around for it. There is a setting called "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" in the advanced settings of Internet Explorer. If this setting is enabled in IE9, Launchpad will not be able to connect to the login server. This setting does not cause any problems when using IE8. I am not sure what has changed with IE9 but at least it is easy enough to work around. Hopefully this information will help anybody else who experiences problems after installing IE9. |

Yep; that worked. Been trying to figure this out for a week now; THANX! BTW, this crap borked every SOE game, and all of their support forums are lit with "cant log in" type posts, but no one has posted an accurate work around until I saw this one. |

could possible be that IE9 was just recently released for the general public, prior it was beta and very few companies suppot running on a beta platform. The launcher is IE API coded, MS is working to make their browser more secure, so you are going to find a lot of things that depend on the API's and IE security settings outside of browsing to be affected. I know of at least 2 enterprise level products that will not work with IE9 installed at the moment, the companies are working on IE9 support, but no resolution at the moment

![]() i have that same "unable to connect to login server" problem for some time too. i had identified it too to an internet 9 update in windows update. and so had to uninstall that update to make ALL SOE (with launcher) work. The problem occurs too with magic tactics too btw....gonna try the fix, hope it works... |

All of our LaunchPad's use the same web interface. Unchecking Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk is the fix as this option was not previously set by default.

![]() Yep worked perfectly for me too. "Unable to connect to login server" was a headache for two days! Enable encrypted pages to be saved to disk and I'm back in the game. Much appreciated guys! |

![]() There is an quick resolution for people on this matter. I study security and drivers and this is not advisable solution IF you use Internet explorer as primary browser.
This is not a firewall matter nor it's 3rd party security issue and no it has nothing to do with Adobe Flash either. If Sony would be even 1 year in line of Adobe heck I bet this thing would run on Flash Player 9. The problem is with new IE9 certificate approval program which SOE is not following and so people get in to issues. |

It has nothing to do with certificate problems and everything to do with being unable to save encrypted pages to disk as Flash requires when it initializes. It's a security feature that has always existed in IE but was never checked by default until IE9 for some reason I am not aware of. I'll go ahead and lock this up as it should be resolved for the OP.
