I've tried many different versions of drivers but for some reason I get some odd textures

Any clue what is going on?  I've tried shader 3 over the last few months across many different versions of the driver with no luck.  I'm on the latest driver and this is on a 2x480GTX setup with everything maxed out graphically and stereo 3d off.

Youtube video of another shader 3 texture issue

What you are seeing is what occurs when the texture necessary for that model is missing or corrupt.

We can start by running a full file scan from the LaunchPad.  Next, we can clear out your cache in case that is where the corruption originates from.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniTo do this, please follow these directions:1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:Program DataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher. If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

If that does not work the corruption may be in your asset_cache.  Unfortunately, deleting this folder will prompt a very large re-download.

Hi JoshuaM,

I've tried the steps you provided.

I deleted the cache folder, EverQuest2.exe, the stated INI files and performed a full scan before logging back in.

At the character select screen I set my graphical setttings to extreme quality, enabled shader 3.0 and further upped the quality levels of some things that did not get set to max under the advanced settings.  I logged out and logged back in to set the shader 3 setting to turn on.

Still bright green textures around the place.  After logging out I then looked at my asset_cache folder and saw it was only 7 megs large but I deleted that whole folder to and logged back in and still green textures.

Not this only happens with Shader 3.0 turned on.  I'm not using the streaming client.  I'm willing to delete relevent paks if needed...I'm looking to see if I can isolate the halas paks to delete them and redown load them but if there was a corruption I would have expected that the full scan should have done some type of MD5 check to validate the contents of the file.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Regards

Wayne

I've found about a dozen files in the PAKS directory with the halas prefix.  I've deleted those files and the patcher is downloading them now.  Ok patched the new files...EQ2 brought up a little progress bar that isn't normally up before launching the main window.  Going in....wait for it....wait for it....BUgger... still green textures.

What gets me is they are textures that seem to work in other places....like here

Here is the same shot with shader 3.0 off and on

Is there a Pak for shader 3 stuff?  I mean it looks like it isn't just a texture issue since its fine without shader 3 on but like there is a shader 3 bump map or something that is messed up for some of the geometry.

I can suggest that you switch to the EQ2 LaunchPad to see if the issue persists.  If time allows, do a clean install.

Its asking for my everquest 2 activation code.  I don't have that info any more...its tied to my account...why doesn't it know about that already?  It has already asked my userid and password.

Installing to a new directory...on the bright side I can play with Shader 3 off just fine while that downloads SMILEY

once it is done downloading and if it fixes the problem I'll do a file difference to see where the 2 installs differ and post that info up.

So, i have EXACTLY the same SHADER 3.0  issue, in fact the exact items shown in the previous screenshots are issues, along with others.    THis happens in a newly installed folder of EQ2 and in BETA also.    It happens on all toons.    It happens using all video drivers, as i even rolled back many versions to test (NVIDIA).     Performed everything suggest thus far and then some.   Please address this probelm SOE.

Hmmm look the exact same object ... seems this might be a problem not with our installs.  I mean what are the odds that both of us had the exact same textures corrupted?

So .. CS what now.  Oh BTW the full new clean install does it still.

Well I'm at a loss.  Can't fix the issue on my end and I'm not the only one having this problem with the exact same textures at fault.  This getting passed up to the devs now or still think it is a client side issue?

My apologies for not stopping in here through the DoV launch.

It has been reported but the symptoms differ between users.  I, personally, do not have this issue with anything but the gnome heritage armor on my home computer.  My work PC doesn't have this issue at all in any case.  For those who installed the LaunchPad and the issue persisted, which folder was Station Launcher installed to previously and which folder is EQ2 LaunchPad installed to now?

The green ice of Halas and the caffeinated buzz of Zek are periodic problems. Turning off 3.0 makes it "go away" but that really isn't a solution. Have tried all the solutions mentioned... it just acts as if there are objects/textures that have bogus attributes that derail 3.0.

The Zek degradation is progressive... eventually it requires a game restart unless Picasso environments are a kick.
