I've seen this brought up in the past, but never heard of a fix or suggestion.

With EAX Audio enabled, while underwater there is a significant thumping type sound that occurs. It happens repeatedly, and it's very annoying. Makes me dread having to swim lol.

Any known fix or tip to resolve? I hate to turn off EAX but I find the audio and positioning much better.

Thanks!

I'll do some testing with EAX, something I have not personally done before (I don't play with sound!), I will post more information when I have it.

EAX has been acting fine for me.  Could you post your DXDIAG information? There may be an audio setting that may need to be changed.  I'll need the whole sound devices sections specifically.

Everything seems in order, you are up to date and don't have any non-standard settings.  How are you enabling EAX?  Through your receiver or software?

I enable EAX through the game options. Obviously Creative Alchemy is used to allow EAX on Windows 7, so maybe it resides on that side.

im pretty sure alchemy has nothing to do with this since i have had it since windows xp days....just gotten so used to it i try to ignore it.will post my dx diag after i get home from work tonight.

mine is enabled thru alchemy as well now and ingame as eax4 setting from controlpanel ingame.

it sorta sounds like someone beating a bass drum, something else i will try when i get the time is ill make a very short fraps vid while im underwater and try to post it so you can hear it yourself.

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro and this happens with me as well on occasion. I also gets lots of static in one area in Darklight Woods.. my solution has been to just change the Sound Driver in the game options to the Miles driver and the audio glitches go away and then change back to EAX when I leave those areas.

Xonar DX do not use true EAX, instead they intercept and mimic DirectSound and EAX functions.  While the issue may be on our end, I wouldn't know where to begin troubleshooting your issue.  Hopefully once all of this is resolved (I have reported my findings) the fix should affect your card as well but I cannot say with certainty that it will.

I'm aware.. but it's obviously not a card specific issue as i'm the only one with a Xonar in this thread so far, the rest are all using various forms of SBs.
