so i've been wondering about this for about the two years i've been back.

what happened to the cool ripple effect when swimming on the surface of water? it's gone. i've even tried it on a completely different computer - still doesn't work. hasn't worked for a couple years now. i posted about it a long time ago and got a dev response saying "yea, thats weird, i noticed that the other day" and that was it.

are there any plans to fix this?

I personally haven't tried the water ripple effects recently so I can't say if it's functioning properly or not. However, I would recommend checking your video options and ensure this feature is enabled in your graphics, as it's disabled by default on all video presets, even "Extreme Quality".

I can see the ripple effect here, but only when running through the water not while swimming at the surface.  I am going to work with my contacts on getting an official word about this feature.  In the meantime, make sure you have Splash particles and animate procedural textures checked and Water interaction set to On.
