I Read in the past that I should move my aa slider to 100% when I reach 89.9. The reason if  I recall is that rested bonus is lost when you turn 90?

Does this advice still hold true?

If you're questing or visiting new areas (I believe), I'd suggest you move it sooner than that.  However, I think in the next update, that advice will no longer apply.  I could be wrong on all accounts though.

Game Update 58 will allow you to have the Vitality bonus at level 90.

Since GU 58 is not here yet, YES level lock at 89.x for vitality boost to AA gain.

IF 90 vitality comes in 58 you can ignore that.

I'm pretty sure you can build up more vitality if you lock it early into level 89.  It shouldn't matter after Tuesday though.

Correct, I learned that the hard way when I locked an alt at 79.95 last expansion.  If you want to lock at 89, locking at 89.0 is the way to go.

But as you say, it should be a moot point very soon now.

Why would it matter what fraction of a percent you are at the last level?

They cut the vitality bucket off at [max level],  resulting in wacky results.  For easy numbers, say you lock at 89.95%.  You only get a vitality bucket from 89.95 to 90.00.  (0.05%). Same as if you were level 50, and it said you had vitality to last you to 50.05.

However, because 90 is considered 'full', you are shown 100% vitality.  You have a full 100% of your 0.05%.

End result, kill one mob, and it burns it all up, and you're down to 0% vitality.  Wait an hour, and you're back to 100%.

The farther you are from 90, the bigger the bucket can be, and at 89.0 it more or less behaves perfectly normally.

The percent matters because disco xp and quest xp.  I believe that those don't get converted to aa xp.  I could be wrong though.

You are wrong.

The reason you lock right after you hit 89 is as they said, you only can accumulate the amount of vitality needed to get to level 90.  So if you lock at 89.9, then you only can accumulate enough vitality for .1 of a level, no matter if you dont play the toon for a year.  So you need to lock at 89.0, so you can accumulate a full levels worth of vitality.

Do you have a red name post that verifies this?  I haven't seen anything that confirms this anywhere.  It would explain some behavior I have noticed, but correlation is NOT causality.

EDIT: I have to add that I cannot see how this could be remotely true given we will have vitality at 90 now.  so you get 100% vitality for 0%xp then eat it on one mob to get it back in 30 min.  Something isn't right here.

So, disco xp gets converted to aaxp now?  I seem to remember a while back people complaining about level locking, and then gaining a level when they disco'd a new area.  Or maybe I'm just missing the overall goal of level locking...

As your edit, that's exactly what they're changing.  It may be as simple as moving the vitality limit up to level 91 (so you get 100% to play with at level 90) - or a logic change of some sort.

Right now, it stops at 90.  6 hours from now, it won't.
