EverQuest II Extended - Now Available

Players can now experience the dark and dangerous depths of Norrath without a subscription through the release of SOE’s new free adventure service, EverQuest II Extended! SOE has liberated portions of the critically acclaimed PC franchise, EverQuest II, including over five years worth of impressive, award-winning content, and made it available for free through the EQ2X service.

Umm, just how does this Extended thing differ from regular EQ2?

Came back (hoped to complete a quest today as it's 10/10/10) to find somehow the Extended was activated last month (even though ah haven't logged into EQ2 for about 3+ months) and can't actually get the game to load (it patched fine btw so it can't be that)

If this is not the right place for this, please let me know (haven't logged into the forums for over a year so don't know where this should go, but it was Extended related)

to make it simple extended is a COMPLETELY new service for eq2 on a seperate server that is FREE TO PLAY with a focus on microtransactions for income.

F2P may be, but ah was automatically signed up for the Gold package, even though hadn't even patched EQ2 for a couple months let alone played (been playing SWG so ah know that mah account is still valid/active)

Ah'm using the same LaunchPad ah've used for the last 5 years (tried the new Launcher but can't stand it and refuse to use it) but nothing happened last time ah tried (patched fine, but didn't actually load the game) will try again shortly

Nope, still doesn't load after hitting the big red [PLAY] button (the Processing Login/Launching Game window appears but nothing else)

DrkVsr, you actually have to use a completely different patcher for EQ2X. As it's a separate service, it's got its own launcher. You can get that info here:

Unless I'm reading the access matrix incorrectly, as long as you maintain a subscription to the Live servers you're given Gold access to the Extended server(s). I am not seeing this on my Extended access though. Care to elaborate?

Only if you pay for a copy token and copy a char over to Extended, and then the gold sub is only for that character. If you have Station Access then you have gold regardless.

Well, as I'm one of the, many if not all, folks who recently went from Station Access to "regular" I find myself only having access to characters I can't play on the Extended server due to non-bronze races and/or classes. Oh well, back to Live I go.

Mah problem is, ah'm using the old Launchpad to try and play the normal/paid version, it patches fine so there is no problem there, but nothing happens after ah hit the [PLAY] button

Thanks for explaining why ah have the Gold Package (just have to re-subscribe to the Station Players which keeps getting discontinued)
