Location: Enchanted Dryad Grotto

Time: Around 20:30 PDT, 2010-07-20

Character: Cyndi @ Lucan DLere

1) I entered the instance, took the quest and found the purple shiny.  I proceeded to gather it.

2) The phone rang and I went to answer it.  When I came back no more than 2 minutes later, the shiny was gone.  I checked the message log, and it showed no sign of me receiving it from the gathering (so I know I had not pressed OK when the acquisition window came up).  I doubled checked my inventory and collections, and confirmed that the shiny was not there either.

3) I combed through the zone thoroughly twice and it is nowhere to be found.  The shiny had not despawned and respawned anywhere, yet I had not received it either.

This isn't a bug.

If you start gathering a shiny and don't actually "loot" it, the shiny will time out after a few minutes and disappear.  All shinies do this.

The Moonlight shinies do not respawn at all, so unfortunately you just missed out on that one shiny this month.  Next time, be sure to "loot" the shiny before you walk off.  This is why god invented voicemail.  Shinies > phone.  SMILEY

As I mentioned, I was away for less than 2 minutes.  It just doesn't seem right that it disappeared so fast, when chests and lootable bodies last so much longer (for example, exquisite chest for around 15 min and small chest for around 5min).

I have different people set to different ring-tones, and god help me if I on purpose defer to voice-mail the woman who gave birth to me.
