A few fellow editors over at EQ2i and I have been debating the definitive answer to the spelling of the hybrid race of Iksar-Scorpion men.

The game contains replete examples of both "Skorpikis" and "Scorpikis." It seems to be generally felt that "Skorpikis" is the correct spelling.

Can a Red Label User chime in and clarify for the community which is correct and which is a spelling error? Many thankies!

Hmm, I thought we decided on Skorpikis, after they renamed almost everything to it (although confirmation from a Dev is never a bad thing)? I think there's only a few items that still use the Scorpikis spelling.

I agree! I think the case for "skorpikis" is clear, but those last few items, as well as the fact that the Skelross faction mouseover still uses "scorpikis" is stuck in the craw of the pedantic among us!

I hope that "skorpikis" is the winner and we can tie a bow on it! SMILEY

Their spelling in EQ Live was Scorpikis. Sounds like someone had a bad spelling day when they made those mobs. SMILEY

In the end, I guess the answer to the "correct" spelling depends on if they were trying to go with the classic name or not.

Yep, it's supposed to be spelled with a 'c' -- 'skorpikis' is a very popular typo. A quick search of the game's files shows a couple dozen places where it's used, so I'm going to see about cleaning it up.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Ah nice! When I saw a bunch of things get changed to a Skorpikis spelling a ways back I thought you guys had intentionally decided to spell it different than EQ1, glad to see it's finally getting fixed. The "c" spelling makes more sense as a play off scorpion anyway =)
