Ok i am getting so [Removed for Content] off my head is going to explode. I started playing EQ2 about a week ago and got ganked left and right which was fine im a newb no biggie. But now its my turn i got my guy to 16 and got some decent gear than headed to the caves and waited. by the way im a good wizard i see my first person a level 12 shadow knight ok he's in the level range he's an SK so he must be evil but it wont let me attack. ok whatever ill try someone else nope cant attack what the hell. why can i attack some guys very few and only if they attack me first and not others im playing on nagafen server and cant attack nothing its very frustrating. ive tried to attack 4 people now and cant attack any of them i look  them up on website and it says they are all evil and within range but i cant attack.

Thanks

If they died and revived in the caves they have permanent immunity until they move far enough from the revive point that their immunity would begin to tick down.

Also SKs can belong to any faction (Good/evil/exile) so that's not always the best indication of who you can and cant attack. A couple quick ways to indicate if someone can attack you is if their name has a red outline, also if they show up when you "/" the zone, or "/who" the zone. If it's a small zone with low population like the caves you may get a couple names that tell you who in your faction is in the zone. Anyone not showing up on that list is obviously an enemy.

At 16 if you're looking for some places to pick fights you should probably head to the commonlands/darklight woods area or timorous deep which are all starting areas for the opposite faction. If you have question you can always join the public channels (1-9), (10-19) etc for answers. You'll get about 10 smaartass replies but usually somewhere in the mix is a helpful response.

Good luck.

Allow me to clarify that. Certain classes must still 'start' in their respective cities. For example SK's must start in Freeport faction, however they can then betray their home city, become exiles and earn faction with Qeynos. Once that is done, they speak to their class trainer and have the option of becoming paladins or staying as Shadowknights. This didn't used to be the case. A few updates back they made all classes available to all factions...with a bit of work involved if you REALLY wanted that SK to be a Q or Swashbuckler to be a Freeport resident.

Just follow what Broncas said, look for the red outline on their names just like mobs.

If they are evil and die in the caves they wont revive in there they will revive in Antonica so he was probably on your side.

somehelpfull stuff to remember!

/who NAME if they show up on list they are on your side and can't be attacked in pvp.

/pvp gives your pvp stats.

/pvp_range tells the pvp range for that zone like 4 lvls in caves, and, cl, td, and dlw.  10 in ss.

/recent will tell current pvp players you have killed and once on the list they do not come off for 30 minutes and you get ntohing from the kill except for knowing you pwn their face. I would not repeate kill those on same timer unless they keep coming after you.

as a 16 wiz you can have lots of aa now (1.5 x your max adventure lvl) which is 24. if it comes to a .5 number you get to round up.

AA you should put your points in the first tree for in Stanima line for Manasheild which allows you to use once every minute or min and half (i forgot recast time on it). when used it will eat your mana instead of health.

Go on AA runs, Demorte and EL are cheap usually 20-50 gold for each run and you could get around 12 give or take some and have AA to use. Get a PoF run if you can 2-5 plat and get around 20 give or take a few aa.

Quest, quest, quest, and be sure to do the hq in greater fay and cl at lvl 17 and 20 for good aa and the lvl 20 hq return of the lightbringer gives a nice neck peice for lvl 20.

If you are not wearing MC (mastered crafted) gear you should go harvest and find someone to craft for you or craft them yourself. you are cloth wearer and will need sisal root. those come from roots and bushes in ant and cl. you need harvesting of 20 to do those zones. also craft and sale stuff on brooker to gain coin.

then you need spells. expert spells are best you can get from crafter and need at least all expert. masters are better can be got from brooker with coin or you can kill names and hope they drop equisite chest.

they is nuts and bots of what you need as a new player. o yea carry healing potions that you can make if alchy or buy from brooker and put them on your spell bar from your bag and use like a spell to get a small heal.

make sure you use lvl 10 hex dolls MC and they give good stats. i would get one sta and one agi or int. int is what gives you damage and more power pool. sta gives you more health. use these on your spell bar as well to debuff and slow players if using agi it slow. etc..

lastly read your spells so you know exactly what they do in pvp. some debuff against the type of damange spells you do. so you may want to root. then debuff and drop your big hit or something like that.

Thank you so much!!

baldwinboy3 that info is so helpful all the info i have gotten on the forums has been very helpful so far very nice and friendly community i came over here only a week or so now but i was so impressed with the gameplay and community that i have talked 3 more of my friends to join me and hope i can get many more. They are all impressed with how much better this game is than what they had heard sounds to me like sony really needs to beef up the marketing department.

Thanks again
