Yes, they are only for raid gear. They are essentially replacing previous set bonus / special focus effects that were only found before on /gasp  raid gear.Kind a logical effect that red adornments, with the effects of prior raid gear, are only useable on new raid gear, don't you think? heh.

Firstly, I am raid equipped

Secondly, still EPIC fail

The adornments improve spell lines way beyond the previous set bonuses which required multiple pieces for a single bonus where now you get multiple bonuses for multiple pieces and need only 1 piece to obtain any bonus you want to invest in. No reason adornments shouldnt be only allowed on raid gear.

I will say though that any gear with red adornments should be unequipped automatically in heroic instances. It provides an excellent flagging system now for the devs to disallow trivializing heroic content with massively overpowered gear for the content.

Err most classes in TSO had five class-specific effects that required equipping five pieces of T4, including the chest and legs. SF lets you adorn five class-specific effects on five slots, including the chest and the legs.

Heoric gear will be getting its own yellow adornment slots in the near future to allow for certian set bonuses for that.

As far as raid gear and red adorns, its kinda the point. You don't get to do easier content and get the same rewards. Would make raiding not worth it.

So you'd rather go back to the Itemization nightmare of 5 and 7 piece set bonuses? Where have you been the last expansion?

I havent seen anything about this, do you have a link by chance? Definitely know some people that will be interested in this, myself included for alts and such.

And as for the itemization, never said it was right or perfect to have 5-7 piece sets needed. That has always been torked, especially when 3+ pieces of the set have items elsewhere which are superior and set bonuses need to be forfeited. The post was about disallowing bonuses to all non-raid players.

Per Frizznik:

Hi everyone, I wanted to give you some information on some of the itemization changes that should hit next week. We have been looking at itemization and making some modifications to make them more desirable.  Here are some of the things we are changing.

  • Added red adornments slots to all raid dropped armor in the Sentinel’s Fate.
  • Modified red slot adornment Focus Effect: Critical Chance so that it can be placed on hand slot items as well as feet slot.
  • Modified red slot adornment Focus Effect: Potency so it can be placed on chest slot items as well as forearm slot.
  • Raid armor drops were renamed so that they could more easily be identified when awarding them.
    • Venomous (Scout Chain) – No Change
    • Vicious (Offensive Plate) – Savage
    • Viscid (Summoner Cloth) – Baleful Caller’s
    • Vivacious (Priest Plate) – Revered
    • Voidshell (Tank Plate) – Hulking
    • Vociferous (Mage Cloth) – Archaic Runed
    • Vivid (Shaman Chain) – Enduring Spirit
    • Voracious (Offensive Leather) – Pugilist’s
    • Versatile (Defensive Leather) – Tenacity
  • Sentinel’s Fate raid drop chest, leg, and shoulder slot items in most cases will now have more critical mitigation.
  • Many fabled pieces of jewelry in Sentinel’s Fate have had resistances added to them to make them desirable items sought for increasing resistances on fights that require it.
  • Many fabled jewelry and weapons in Sentinel’s Fate have had effects added to them to make them a choice of upgrading from items obtained in The Shadow Odyssey.
  • Added yellow adornment slots to all Sentinel’s Fate legendary items.
  • Added yellow slot adornments that are purchased with Marks of Manaar from a new vendor in Paineel.  They follow the slot and stat standards that exist on non-class specific red slot adornment effects but are less powerful than their red slot counterparts.
  • Brellium jewel crafted resistance gear has had stats added to it to make the swapping to them less of a hit to your overall stats.

Thanks!

Yeah the 33% bonus on battle tactics needed like a zillion bits equiped... oh no wait it only needs one item equiped - the bp.

The red adorns pretty much just allow for people to replace their existing set bonuses as they get new gear and in the case of the ones with class effects they can only go on a limited number of slots.

Heroic instances are already trivial to high end raiders(gear does not a player make), of course if they want to put in scaling on gear I'm all for that as long as they limit spells/abilities as well so that master spells only work on raids and limit heroic to adept 3 and solo to adept 1s.

Well then, that's not a set bonus is it? Why are you comparing your apples to the OP's oranges?

Allow me to summarize the OP's post:

1. This expansion allows you to choose the order you get the set bonuses that were on last tier's raid gear.

2. These set bonuses are not available on heroic gear, like last expansion.

3. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. The periodic table of elements. Mr. T. ...?

4. EPIC FAIL!!1!

Clearly, no retort is sufficient to do it justice.
