Do Paladins want a slow single hand weapon or a fast one?

The way I understand this (and im sure i will be corrected) is you want a long delay high damage weapon.

Because you get more benefit from 'haste'.  The cap i think is 100% haste which in $OE math is 50%, i know wierd.

So a 3 second 1 hander with 100% haste hits every 1.5 seconds, whereas a 8 second weapon with 100% haste would hit every 4 seconds meaning a 2.5 second increase.  the 8 second weapon will hit for more ###dmg than the 3 second and over time intervals equal more damage.  Also the long delay is supposed to affect crits some way that i don't understand.  long delay weapons 'proc' more whatever their 'proc'/effect is because of wonky $OE math yet again.

Also don't believe a single thing you read when you 'inspect' an item or click it for an examine window.  Because in 5 years they still do not have the inspect window right.  you have to equip and attune the weapon and then use /weaponstats to see what you are really getting.

now the usual suspects will flame/go off on this little explanation.

Yup, you want slowest weapon is possible. Mainly for 2 reasons : haste & procs mecanic like Cold Metal stated but also to time your auto attack. Weapon delay wont affect how much you crit but the gap between the lowest and the highest hit will affect how high you crit and generally slower weapon have a bigger gap.

I have no clue how it works but if you have these 2 weapons for example :

    Weapon A : 45-55 dmg raiting 50. delay 5

    Weapon B : 30-70 dmg raiting 50. delay 5

Weapon B will crit for a lot higher and will end being a better weapon. I am guessing when you crit, it take the max dmg off the weapon and applies your crit bonus, but *shrug*.

Might have the numbers a bit off, it's been a while since I haven't played much this past year until the last week, but from what I recall, like most stats in EQ2, Haste is on a diminishing returns curve.  The more you have the less it helps.  100% weapon speed increase occurs at 125 haste, and haste hard caps at 200 haste (for a 125% speed increase).  Get it to as close to 125% as you can or go over, but once you hit 125, it's preferable to make sure you get other stats like DPS up to their 100% mark (also at 125 IIRC).

Compared to other tanks Paladins got lots of spells that take time to cast and their for a weapon with high delay, let say 6 sec suits us alot better then a 3-4 sec wep.
