Recently I'm chunked several alts I never play in favor of some new ones on a different server.  This was over the last two weeks.  They are working fine in game, and playing them isn't an issue.  The issue is the EQ2Players website.  The old (now DELETED) characters are still there, only one of the new characters has shown up, and the other three, all done in the last week (before Tuesday's maintenance) have yet to show up.  They're all over level 20 now (in at least crafting), but I have nothing to show for them.

And a probably related side-note, the uploaded avatar pictures are working nicely on the website, but my poor rat still looks like he's hung himself in frustration at the skew issue with the signature image maladjustment.

Are these both caused by the same database mismanagement issue or are they unrelated?  Either way, they both need to be fixed, with the new characters not showing on the website being the more important issue.

EQ2Players updates no more than weekly at best, perhaps somewhat longer.  It is nowhere close to a "live" update schedule.  It's probably one reason why they finally made it a free service since they couldn't seem to be able to provide any kind of real value for the premium they charged.  Of a certain, up-to-the-minute accuracy has never been there.  I suspect it has to do with database access requirements and the lag that might be induced if updates were more frequent.  But that's just a guess on my part.

I am having the exact same issue, except my character name is now listed (it wasn't for about a week), but when I try to access that name I get 'An error has occured'.

Almost like the updater decided to take a nap and get back with the rest of the script later lol.

And I thought 24 hours for Armory updates was bad.  SOE service isn't really all that.  Even paying twice as much for the game, I only get 12 characters slots (technically more than I actually play, but still far less than the 50 I had) and now I have to wait between a week and a month for updates to my characters to show up on the website?  Totally lame and sad.

As for my poor hanging rodent, that bug has been around for years.  Literally.  It SHOULD be fixed by now, regardless of how low priority it might be.  While I like the BGs, I would prefer that the little amenities get their day with the devs before they add something like that again.  Luxuries that don't work aren't luxuries, they're broken trash that makes the whole game look shoddy and hald-[Removed for Content].  Is Sony going Toyota?  Or have they always been Toyota and we're only just noticing?

Either way, thanks for the information.  I'll have to lower my expectations for the game.  I like how it plays and its certainly more fun than that other game, but there are a lot of things that SOE is MASSIVELY behind the curve on.  Stuff I would have thought was standard issue by now.  *sigh*
