I've looked for quite a bit and I haven't found this specific question anywhere so hopefully someone can help me. I betrayed a Ranger to Freeport who is now level 30 with 40 aa and 30 armorsmithing. However now I'm thinking I would have rather just made an Assassin. Is it possible, since I never chose to change my class, to now change to an Assassin? Or do I now have to betray to Qeynos then betray again to Freeport? I really don't want to level again that is why I ask.

I appreciate any info out there about this.

You have to betray to change to the opposite alignment class no matter what, but you stay whatever level you are. You're a level 30 adventurer and a level 30 armorsmith. When you betray, you still remain a level 30 with 40 achievements and a level 30 armorsmith.

If you're concerned that you're missing out on something for not starting out as an assassin, I can assure you that you have nothing to lose by betraying at a lower level. At higher levels, it becomes harder to gain back all your master spells, and re-equip yourself (though most gear at the end game is based off class, so both rangers and assassins use the same things.)

There's nothing you don't have now that you wouldn't have had if you started off.

I hope that answered your question.

So even though I am Freeport now, I can't change to Assassin without going Qeynos then Freeport again? I'd do it if I have to, was just making sure there wasn't a faster way since I'm evil aligned already.

Well, the predator class only has two subclasses. Ranger for Good and Assassin for Evil. If you're already an assassin, then I don't quite understand why'd you want to go back to a ranger and then back to an assassin again. I think I'm missing something here.

If you want to do that though, you can change your class between the two as many times as you want. There is no limitation to betraying back and forth.

Wait, are you on a PVP servers where you can play any class for any alignment? That would explain why you are a Freeport Ranger. That combo isn't allowed on normal servers.

Yes, I am on a PvP server. Sorry, I should have made that clear.

Ahh, yes. the PVP servers allow you to play as any class for either alignment. I think if you want to change from a ranger to an assassin, you just have to betray once. You can betray a city and then go back to it right away. The quest should end with giving you a choice of either staying as a ranger or switching over the assassin, depending on which class trainer you see at the very end.

My issue was that I had done the betrayal questline already to become a Freeport citizen, and when it gave me a choice I chose to stay Ranger. So I think I have to betray to Qeynos then back to Freeport again to get that class option unless there is another way I'm not aware of.

I also play on pvp. All you have to do (I say *all*, but it is a hassle, especially on pvp) is betray FP, but as soon as you become exile, begin the faction quests back into FP again -- no need to betray all the way back to Qeynos. Once you regain enough faction to become a FP citizen again, you will be able to choose to become an Assassin.

You dont have to go back to qeynos. You just have to go exile and then come back to freeport. At this point you will be able to pick either assassin or ranger again.

Thank you so much! That's the exact answer I needed and makes it a lot easier SMILEY

I said "when you betray, you can go back to Freeport right away", implying you didnt have to change cities. I guess I should have just said that outright, but I'm glad we could help.
