Hiya, I recently woke up and made the change from WoW to EQ2. I bought the Shadow Odyssey and installed it, but when I open up the Patcher app on my desktop, it gets stuck at "Preparing Files..." for a good 3 or 4 minutes before prompting me with "Could not run Launchpad. Please re-install from http://launchpad.station.sony.com/"

So I went ahead and installed the Station launcher and went through that whole schpiel of registering and such, so I got to the point where I guess it was supposed to re-install, and it stopped at Preparing, and after several minutes, prompted me with:

"Unable to load network configuration from: http://lp2.patch.station.sony.com:8...q2/bundles.xml.

Station launcher will try again after 30 seconds."

After waiting almost an hour to connect, I kind of came to the conclusion that it is, indeed, not going to work. I tried resetting my computer, restarting my connection, disabling all my firewalls, nothing. Any advice on how to get the patcher to actually work so I can play?

Also, just to clarify beforehand, I'm not running Vista, I'm running XP.

Greetings,

It's unusual to get that message when running the game in XP.  Based on your description, it sounds like an application in the background might be conflicting with the game.  To disable background programs:1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. If you are still experiencing the same issue, please reply back.
