When I go to the Knowledge Base site and click on either "Email Support" or "Chat Support", I get this message after logging in:

Secure Connection Failedhelp.station.sony.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for *.custhelp.com(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)    * This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.    * If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

While I realize I can just add an exception and connect anyway, I thought it should be mentioned here, in case someone wants to fix it.

This happens in Firefox 3.  In IE7 the message is similar:

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.

Greetings,

That certificate error actually happens because our ticket system was designed by another company.  The program has one certificate while our website has a different one.  It is a known issue at the moment.  You can certainly choose to continue anyway in the meantime, but I understand that the error message can cause some concern.

Interestingly, when I go to https://secure.station.sony.com/eq2...TransferOrder.m from the main EQ2 Help page, I get a 403:Forbidden.

It's almost like you guys don't want my money. SMILEY

If that is the transfer menu for characters that is no longer in use. Character transfers between servers are done in game with Station Cash tokens for 25.00, account to account transfers are done via the phone with a 25.00 charge also. The website has been shut down for that for awhile

When I try to access "My Account" get a page saying it is down for maintainence, so that is probably the reason

If it's shut down, shouldn't the link be removed?  It's pretty easy for Joe Customer (ie. myself) to click through to that link currently.  If, on the other hand, it is down for maintenance, it's been down an awfully long time.

Either way, transfers from EU to NA servers aren't in fact done in-game, and frankly, if I'm going to pay US$25 for a character transfer, I'll be damned if I'm also going to spend up to that much again on an international call to either California or the U.K.

So....yeah.  Kinda feeling like SOE isn't exactly making it easy for me to give them some money here, as I said.

Where did you find that link?  Did you have it bookmarked or something?  Usually you get to that page by going to eq2players.com, character services, and then character transfer service.  I'm looking at that page right now, though, and it shows details about marketplace transfers.

It's possible that the maintenance this morning removed that link but let me know where you found it if you remember.

You can get there from here in 4 clicks.  Just go to "station.com" in the upper left corner, then from there, click on "Help > Support Site" in the menu bar, then click on "EverQuest II", and from that page, in the column on the right under "Services" is the link for "Character Transfer".

And I still get a 403.

You can also go through www.eq2players.com to get to the page that Daniel referenced, looks like the webmasters missed redirecting that link to the updated page.

Thanks for letting me know the location for that link.  That should have been switched to the one on the EQ2players website.  I have reported it to the appropriate people so that it can be corrected.

Got a reply to my support question, which I'll post here in case others are curious:

"Thank you for your interest in our Character Transfer Service. For your security, we are asking that you contact our Technical Support Department by phone if you wish to initiate a Character Transfer for any of your characters on EverQuest, EverQuest II, or Star Wars: Galaxies. We can be reached at out main Technical Support line at 858-537-0898. Please keep in mind that a new character transfer request can only happen over the phone - Character Transfer requests made by email or chat will not be processed."

/sigh

Consider this issue closed, I guess.  Though the certificate is still invalid.

If you can, PM me with the reference number for that ticket.  Unless there's something special about this transfer, he did not give you the correct response.  I want to make sure that the person knows the correct answer in the future.
