3rd person view...

when I click on screen to navigate character...camera instantly looks up...

it does this intermitantly and often enough to interfere with game play...

I had this issue before on Vista32 and installed the logitech g9 mouse driver which reduced it's occurrance...

but now I'm on Vista64 and I've installed the corresponding driver for g9 but it still does it...

any ideas to reduce or eliminate it?

I've never seen this happen on other mmo's/games and don't get why it does this only on eq2.

When moving the game to the new operating system, did you reinstall or did you simply cut and paste the folder?  If you didn't reinstall after changing operating systems then you might need to delete some of the settings file for the game.  That will allow the launcher to download new versions appropriate for your current hardware.

Here is the list of file to delete:

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

i haven't responded in awhile cause I wanted to give it a chance.

I've done what you suggested but the camera view reset still occurs.

It doesn't occur as often now and , I'm learning to live with it, but it still annoying when it does occur and it's never for any particular reason.

I right click and bam! I'm looking straight up.

I'm on Windows Vista 64 using a G5 mouse with latest drivers/updates.

Only reason I use this mouse is because of the high dpi so I can move my cursor across my screen faster. If there is some more compatible that provides me this benefit with out causing the camera view reset, I'm more than willing to use it.

Besides the settings files already listed, there are a few possibilities.  One is that a background application is interferring with the game.  You might want to try the following steps to disable any unnecessary background programs:

1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

You might want to reinstall DirectX as well since it will handle some of the I/O between the game and mouse.
