Whenever I run the EQ2 launce I get the Launchpad Images cannot be loaded" Error. I have followed the instructions in the knowledge base to no avail, this includes right clicking and running as administrator, running it in service pack 2 and going into the security tab for the file and changing the acess. I was hoping some other tips might be available.  Here is some system information as it may help solve this problem. Thank you.

Greetings,

That error means that a launchpad update is available but something on your computer is blocking the download or installation.  Are you running an anti-virus on that computer?  If so, which?  You'll probably want to try disabling that program temporarily if you have one to make sure it isn't blocking the install.

Did you install the game to the default directory?  If you did then you might want to consider moving it to somewhere like C:Games or anywhere that is not the programs files directory.  Vista places extra security on anything in that folder so that might be causing the problem.  You can simply cut and paste your Everquest 2 folder anywhere you want it without needing to run the install again.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Turn off your User Account Control, and make sure you're running the program as administrator.

So far, so good for me. Now about that 13 hour download time...

i also am having the same problem, and i have done all of the above, and i still get the error message.

i also did this

Here's how you can get around running EQ2 without needing to "Run as Administrator."

  1. Run the Task Scheduler.  (Windows Key, type task scheduler and hit enter)
  2. In the left window pane make sure "Task Scheduler Library" is selected.
  3. in the Actions pane, click "create task."
  4. In the general tab, in the name field type EQ2
  5. Make sure the "Run with highest privileges" box is checked.
  6. Go to the Actions tab and click the "New..." button.
  7. In the "Program/script:" field, use the browse button to locate and select the EQ2.exe file
  8. In the "Start in (optional):" field type in the full path to your EverQuest 2 folder.  For example: c:program filessonyEverQuest II
  9. Click OK when you are finished and then close the Task Scheduler.
  10. Right Click on your desktop and select New>Shortcut
  11. In the "Type the location of the item:" field enter the following line schtasks /run /tn "EQ2"
  12. Click Next and enter EQ2 in the name field then click finish.

Once you do that you can go to the properties of your new shortcut and change the icon by clicking the "change Icon..." button and pointing to the EQ2.ico file in your Everquest 2 directory.

Now just use your new Shortcut.  You no longer need to use the "run as administrator" and will no longer need to confirm UAC elevation when you run EQ2.

Enjoy!!!

Edit:  I just wanted to mention, this also works with the station launcher.  follow the same instructions as above, just point to the launcher program instead.  You can also use this method to start the launcher at startup by using the trigger tab in the scheduler.

still didnt work, anything else i can do? needless to say im angry for having to try all this other stuff to get the game to work on my pc, when it says its vista compatable on the box...
