Can anyone tell me what the size of the EQ2 folder is without out any expansion or screenshots or anything, just all the updates?  The other day when I started updating it, it said about 12 hours till the update was done.  When the 12 hours finished it went up to 45.  I came back form school today (it only had about 8 hours left when I left) and now It's back up to 43!!!  My EQ2 folder size has been going up though, just really slow. Right now its at 6.30 gb.  So how much more do I need?  And yes, I do have the options on to download the extra stuff while I play.

Clean install on my backup system is 11GB, but that is with all the expansions, no idea what it is other then that

I used the originaly discs, just the base game itself, to install it onto my computer, so it had alot of crap to update.  But now I'm looking at the text underneath the two bars, that show the updates progess, on the patcher (not the station launcher one) and it says it's "Download: exp01_ZDDS.vpk..." Does that mean that it's downloading the expansions through the patcher?

Yes it does. Total size will be about 11GB.

You get pretty much the whole game when you download, minus some of the voice-overs and such. Then what you have access to or not within the download is flagged by what you purchase.

The drawback is that you have a very large download, the benefits are that when/if you do activate additional features there is no large download you already have it all and the flags are set to allow you access to it. Plus they really only have to store one copy fits all for download, or something like that.

I just made all that up btw, but it sounds good.

Lol, well it makes sense, so that probably is it.  I used to play the game several years back (thats why I already have the discs) but I cant remember my account inof, so im just gonna paly on a trial account for now, (when the updates arer done) but that means I'm going to have to uy the game again for the activation code right? SMILEY  And also, if I just bought TSO, that would have the activation codes for the account and the expansion pack right? and since I'm already gonna have all the expansion on my computer via patcher, is it possible to just buy all the expansion codes online?  Thanks for the help so far by the way

You buy TSO and you will have all prior expansions and adventure packs included, the TSO activation code will unlock it all.

I didn't make that up, its for real I think.

If you could figure out your old account info you would also have veteran awards that would be from the time you first opened that account, it doesn't matter that you left even if you played one day on launch day and come back you would be eligible for 5 year vet rewards.

As it is you will be eligible for a one year vet reward in approx 1 week with a new account.

Oh and Welcome back!

If in the US check ebgames and gamestop. They have the downloadable version or some locations still have the retail box with the figure.

If you purchase from SOE store they will auto register the cd key to your account and you can just logon and start playing on the version you are downloaded. Be cautioned you will have more patching, since you are not downloading any TSO files right now, I believe the trial only goes to Kunark.

By the way if you do find a retail box, just activate the key that comes with it, DO NOT install the disks or you will have another large download over and above the TSO files

Ok, thanks, but like I said, I used to play eq2 a few years back, so I already had the 2 discs for the base game, so I used those to install it, i didnt download a trial file, my account is jsut on a trial period.  And right now the patcher says "Download:exp05_blahblahblah" So that means I wont have to do another huge patch when I activate my account for it right?  And also, do you know how large the updates are that you have the option to download while you play? Thanks
