I am experiencing crashes to desktop on a regular basis.  This happens in any zone under many different circumstances.  I've sat in the guild hall doing nothing and crash to crashing during a full raid.  Typically I can play for 15 - 30 minutes before I crash.  Sometimes longer, but rarely more than an hour.  This started several weeks ago.   I have tried using 3 different computers from 3 different locations and the problem happens on all systems.  I have tried deleting all the typical configuration files and none of those helped.  I have also made sure I am using the latest motherboard and video drivers.

The one common thing I have found is a file called ui contains the following message:

Couldn't load .xmlEncountered data outside of container tags

This file appears on every system that I have tried when the crash occurs.  It is that last file written when the game crashes.  Considering that I have recreated this problem on 3 different systems I suspect I have an account problem.  Please help!

Oh... and any idea why the picture in my signature is not lining up right.  Tried all kinds of things for that too.

Greetings,

I am not aware of any account bugs that will cause the error you're seeing.  The account bug that can crash you to desktop will usually do so with an 'invalid login/password' message.

I realize that you've already deleted some files, but that error does look like a UI related crash.  Please make sure you've gone through all the files listed below:

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini
