Computer freezing when 2 instances open as of this weekend

the issue:

I have been 2 boxing on this computer for several years now with no problems. As of this past Fri or Sat I crash to desktop after maybe a few minutes of having a 2nd logged in, no sometimes, every time my computer freezes up. I tried disablling dual core and it still happened. I ran scan disk, defrag, anti virus scan.

I'm not accusing the game, though I think it started right after a patch) but I'm hoping someone may recognize something here and be able to tell me if I have some fried hardware (on the good side I'm rebuilding it very soon, but for now my playstyle is hindered greatly). I know the first thing people suggest is bad RAM, but wouldn't this happen all the time and not ONLY when I'm running 2 instances?

Besides turning off multi-core support,  you may want to set different core affinities for each instance of Everquest 2.  You can do that by starting the game, hiting ctrl+alt+delete, right clicking on the EQ2 process, and selecting 'set affinity'.  Setting each instance to a different core may sidestep the issue for now.

That said, we don't support running 2 instances of the game on the same computer so I don't have too much information.  Hopefully another 2-boxer will have some helpful hints.

I have set the affinities sometimes and it hasn't mattered. But scratch this being a 2 boxing issue! In the half hour the comp has freeze crashed 2 times with only one instance running (extreme performance, not in a guild hall).

If you haven't done so already, you may want to uninstall your graphics card drivers and then reinstall the latest version.  Besides that, you may want to post at least the first few sections over you DXdiag so we can investigate further.

Problem solved! After testing all the hardware, nothing was coming up broken. So I rolled back the graphics drivers and the freezing up every 10 minutes problem is gone (I did have the newest drivers).

However there is still so much lag and something is still not right even in extreme performance, but I guess it doesn't matter that much because all the new parts for my new system arrive tomorrow.
