I just started playing the game a few months ago, but I remember reading some of the dev diaries back before release and I'm trying to work what I remember from those into what I am seeing ingame now.

As I remember it, something caused the moon to explode and crash into Norrath.  This broke apart the continents and completely destroyed parts of the world.

What was it that caused the moon to explode?  And I could have sworn I saw a non-shattered moon in the sky the other day in game (along with the shattered moon).  Was I dreaming this?  Was it something in my display settings? Or are there two moons now?

Can someone point me to a good place to get started reading up on this?

Norrath has always had two moons, Luclin (the now shattered one we see in the sky), and Drinal (the non-shattered one we see in the sky).

I don't remember what specifically caused the explosion off the top of my head, I think it was a fight in the Nexus?

I've got a website dedicated to chronicling the lore I can find, it's mostly up to date. New Myrist

Thanks for the link.  I didn't realize Drinal was a moon.  I'll do some reading SMILEY

The cause of the Shattering itself has never been revealed. To this day, we suspect it was either the Dresolisk Crystal that Rallos Zek and Solusek Ro's armies hauled into the Nexus about 480 years ago, or it was Kerafyrm, the Prismatic Dragon. There's no tangible proof to support either theory though.
