What's the secret to killing Molinap in Guk?

My group got stuck with this mob yesteday. We tried him 5-6 times and each time he would fire off a fire AE that would kill half the group.

We tried cycling stuns and stiffles, but it seemed like he queued his AE ability. As soon as the stun went off, he would fire the AE.

We only got him to 60% at best.

So, is there a way to avoid/prevent the AE or is it just a burn quick fight?

Gave it a shot again today. Tried three times, he wiped most of the group in one AE after 19 seconds in the first fight, 8 seconds in the second fight and after 1(!) second in the third fight.

Apart from having all group members at 15k hitpoint or more and helluva heal ability, how do you fight that?

It even seemed like he was able to use his Incapacitating Screech while being stunned.

Before using the devastating AE he will say "Give me back what you have stolen and I shall quiet down!" or "I will screech till you return what is rightfully mine! At least, what I rightfully stole!". This implies that it's possible to take some action that will prevent the AE, but we couldn't figure it out.

What are we missing??

Look around, and I don't mean just around the immediate area. There is something you're missing.

Heh, we had fun with this too until we found what Leovinus is referring to.

To be a little more helpful look in the water. I doubt you will miss what is in there if you look around.
