so where are the gems for the armor dropped? instances? how many drop per instance? how does this armor compare to armor that drops in those instances? how will nbg work with the gem drops because unless its like ldon where everyone gets the reward for clearign the zone going to see alot of people complaining about gem drops.

Where is the cool looking armor this is all recolored old junk? I thought we where suposed to see asyncronise armor this expac or is that only raid loot and lon loot?

If i remeber correctly, you get a single quest for each dugeon before going in (at the camp in the area), and finishing the dugeon (or completing what ever the task was), get you one shard. I think there are other speical quests that also give shards as well.

So shards are not droped (at least i didn't see any) there all quested.

So 60 instance runs to get a full set of armour (less any intermediate drops), plus a whole lot more to get the jewelery? Should keep us going until the next expansion.

Yeah for 1 character.

I don't think anybody has figured out that they will need to run instances hundreds of times if they have alts. /gouge eyes out

In sence the old system is better since if something dropped that your alt could need you could log out and get the item....now you are forced into running zones "x" amount of times for each character.

I see that the fury/warden set has no str on it, just int as the third stat. Is there some bias against melee specced druids there?

Well i don't know how busy it will keep people. There is are like 15  or 17 or 18 instances (3 at all location 2 at lavastrom). All the instances take about an hour or 2 (well the ones i saw). So you go through every instance in a day/weekend. So that at a minimum 15 shards.

So the very hardcore people are probably going to have all the shards they need or want before 2009.

Plus its more than 60 Runs. In the other theard i linked the Jewlery sets, so that another 50+ shards for 2 full sets of thouse (3 in a set), and that includes the cloak. So your looking at about 100 shard for armor and jewlery.

Ogrebears, Thanks for posting the info, but the # of shards is what's on Beta. When it goes live, the number of shards it takes to get each item will go up by 2x or 3x. AND, you have to get the lower Legendary first and trade up. So each of the upper Legendary items you have shown are not 8, 10, or 12 shards but actually closer to 30-40 shards each to attain.

---------------

There are two sets of Void Shard armor. Both are Legendary. The lower end is an upgrade from Kunark legendary sets (instance dungeons like CoA, MC, Chel, Char, and VoES). It is much more specialized and tailors closer to the individual classes. There's chain healer stuff, plate healer stuff, shadowknight armor, paladin armor, solo scout stuff with a bit of survivability added to it, solo fighter stuff with the same, and more specialized gear including full brawler set, full assassin/ranger set, etc. The higher end Legendary set has stats that most will realize is essentially low Fabled. This is the gear you'll wish you had when you started doing T2 raids in Kunark. It will take a lot of shards to get, but considering how much harder some of the instanced dungeons are in TSO, they will be a necessity for those as well as raiding. The numbers are being fiddled with, but right now it looks like it will take about 12-14 shards to get each of your lower Legendary pieces, and then another 12-14 shards to upgrade to the upper Legendary pieces. The current theory is you have to buy the lower and trade it in to get the higher, so you aren't really losing or wasting shards by buying one and then the other. If there was a way to buy the upper Legendary immediately, I'm sure they'll require 24-28 shards per piece. And did I mention there's lots of jewelry and charms and more general purpose armor which costs a lot less shards if you are just really hurting for some good armor you can earn maybe as little as 8 shards and gear up on these items. There are a lot of choices. There is also a lot of request on the Beta forums to allow us to earn more than one shard per run for the tougher dungeons. Some TSO dungeons are like VoES -- 30 minutes with a solid group and you're done. Others are 2 hour slogfests. It would be nice if there was a chance of getting more shards. And keep in mind that the dungeon zones will be dropping all kinds of loot which we don't even know about yet. Void Shards is just one option. Suffice it to say, if you want to gear up, now is the time to pick your dance partners. Because I really intend to be grouping in 1-2 dungeons a night every night I can to gear up.

The shaman set has damage shield / deagro on wards as the 5 item set bonus.

Let me thing about this for a moment... Who gets warded mostly? I would say the tank. *thinks more* *PLING* Yes, that is great! Now I can give deagro to the tank!!! That's what I always wanted to do! /sarcasm off

Maybe it means that the ward will create less aggro ??

I must say the art department has really outdone itself with those new armor graphics. They are more hideous than ever. Kudos on keeping EQ2s's leagcy alive - worst armor graphics of all times entering it's 5th consecutive year..

Sarcasm FTW!!!!!!!

Right? Please say "yes." Please???

I do agree that the armor itself is seriously ugly, but that's what appearance slots are for.

Those prices are incorrect.  Those are the BETA prices.  They were intentionally set lower so the beta people could afford to "quickly" get their hands on them to test with.

The live prices are scheduled to be approximately three times more.

I think that means you will generate less aggro from warding the tank.

Some new looking armour pieces there. A Sallet type of plate helm, and some different looking leather shoulders. Nice. About ruddy time though eh.

Less impressed by the paint jobs on the armours though. They're not evocative of anything. Not the theme of the expansion nor the name of the armour set. And if there's one colour scheme that's been blasted more than any other, it's that light-purple/lilac/pink, so why on earth that's rearing it's ugly head again is madness.

There's some use of the glassy texture on the metal armours, which is cool. But honestly, the design and paint jobs are letting the art department down. Instead of being things used in appearance slots, they're things that are gonna get covered up by it.

Edit: On further perusal, was it actually artists that painted these rather than coders? They're so plain. The glassy metallic effect is great and loving that being more used, but blimey, where's the creativity with the paint jobs?

I've noticed more new shoulder graphics than I thought at first. Great stuff, variety. Some of them even look good. Shame my zerker set one isn't one of them. Just look at that, he'd lift his arm and puncture his own neck with that spike. And a uniform blue, what's that word that isn't exciting? Oh yes, dull. But least I ain't an Inquis/Templar, they're set looks like a picture in a colouring book attacked by a 2 year old with the first felt pen they could grab.

The chain sets look like level 20 armours.

That wouldn't suck as much as deagro on the target of the ward but would still completly useless. Only on a pull with pre-wards up and a resisted taunt I get agro from warding. Or when fighting multiple encounters and the tank only is attacking / tauting one.
