i got a rare break today round 10am East coast time, and figured id pop on to play. i log in to find the servers are down. i got on last week to find the same thing in the morning. i know there's an expansion coming out and patching goes on so im not complaining. just wondering where to look for server downtimes? in the SWG launchpad there's a handy notice on either 'all servers up' or server xx, xy, xz.... down..  eq2 launchpad doesnt have this and just a quick check of the forums and home eq2 page doesnt show anything like a list of servers down x amount of time and up at XX:XX.  is there somewhere to look im not seeing or is it a just SOL deal with it kinda deal? thanks

At the top of the forums page there is a link called Network Status which is . . . sometimes accurate (not to the minute accurate, but closer than it used to be).

On the main EQ2 page, there is also a link on the left hand side that says 'network status'. It's a link under 'resources' on the left hand side of your screen.

I really hate these mid morning shut downs. On weekdays I have two chances to play. Between 9 and 10:30 am central time and then after 8:30 pm when I get home. I think the server has been down at least 4 times in the last two weeks. Why can't you guys schedule your updates earlier? I know you are on the west coast and probablly run them when you get in but can't you schedule them to begin before you get there? That's how other IT departments do it. I know that the critical updates have to go whenever but this is crazy.

They do run them before they get there. They run at 7am, basically no one is in the office at that time. They all walk in 8-9 as they come back up. And as today can prove, something has gone wrong... which means they walk in to fix it. Otherwise we'd end up with hours and hours of downtime.

Also as for the number of downtimes, this is more because its part of a rolling live event thats changing the physical layout of the Sinking Sands zone and not currently possible with auto events. As per halloween just turning on in the middle of the day etc.

Respectfully, there will most certainly never be a time where they can bring down the servers and have no one effected by the downtime.

It would appear that the time that they utilized allows for the least amount of players effected in non-prime time (for many) with the greatest amount of capable staff on hand to fix a major problem should it arrise as a result of the changes made to hardware/software during downtime.
