Crashing when loading charater from charater select creeen

Hey guys i just got windows vista on my machine and i am crashing anytime i go passed charater select screen i have an nvida 8600gt card also not running a 64 bit machine and just installing the nvida 178.13 drivers now but it seems to still crash my machine any info on my problem would help.
