Before this last patch I could get around "unable to attack target" message when telling pet to attack by moving a little from one side to the other. After the patch few times I have gone as far to kill the mob and in a few cases be killed be the mob and my pet never would attack. Is anyone else having this issue?

Will double check this on my Necro*

Could it be an issue with your Pet's LoS? (Line of Sight) The pet may look like it has a clear path, but depending where it's standing could be in a spot where players get: "Cannot See Target"

One way to make sure is you stand where the pet is and try to cast a spell on the target?

Goober is afraid of even the SMALLEST bump in the ground.  If I send him after something, and he has to go over a tiny bump, he just stands there looking at me.

I can CLEARLY see his thoughts...., "But mom!!!!  There is a BUMP in my way!"

I understand the line of sight thing but after this last patch I have even got this message when something was already attacking me and when I cant get my pet to attack after that I am in for the fight of my life.

Yes the pet protect was turned on, and I was telling to attack. This doesn't occur every fight but it did happen enough to build up some xp debt.

yup ditto

LOS shouldnt matter when sending pet in, i can send it thru walls and locked doors and up or down lvls to pull things just as long as i can target the thing first.

Ive been getting "pet unable to attack target" lots lately on necro and coerc.

But not just that, i've been getting "you send pet in to attack" and he just stands there looking at his feet... click click click nothing, run round and it stays rooted where it is. I have to pet "back off" and reset its protect options to get it unglitched.

Lately I've been getting a lot of "pet is unable to attack implied target" on my Necro.  I'm standing there saying "no, its not implied - its targeted!" Once I said fine and sent him to attack another group of mobs and off he went.  We killed those and then he ran to the original "unable to attack" group.  I've also not had an "unable to attack" message but he just stood there and looked at me.

And all this time I thought he was just mad at me.

I find it also depends on the zone. It is line of sight related I think, since when I move it will often let the pet attack. Commonlands is especially bad for this issue, it seems to be more often than not that the pet won't attack.

as others suggested use *call servant* so the pet is standing ontop of you then if your STA spec use the pet taunt it should roll agro to the pet, then root the mob and resummon pet.   it sounds like a bugged pet it happens from time to time resummoning it should fix it.

I've been getting this off an on with my necro as well.Last time, it happened in one of the Towers in Maj Dul. Eventually, I could get it attack, usually by running into a mob and body pulling it. Seems the "Protect Me" would make him come.Eventually, when he wouldn't attack, I possesed him.... and found that as far as the game thought, he was about a mile above the world. It was kind of neat, actually, could see all of Sinking Sands WAAAAAAAAYYYY below me.I suspect what is happening here is the pet is getting stuck outside the geometry of the zone, so of course, for it there are huge LOS problems.[Edited to add] Using the Call Servant did not help. He did appear next to me, but still couldn't attack. Dismissing him, and then resummoning did work... for a few pulls until he got stuck outside the world again.--Tusk

It's very common is sloopy bumpy areas, quite often my puppy will not attack by running around changing my location i usually manage to get the dog to wake up but not always. Being a mystic it's simply annoying but i feel  the pain of summoner/necros.
