Today, I logged onto EQ2 and was wandering around aimlessly when i was hit by a 'error' that crashed the game.

Said error is:

EQ2 Client Application: EQ2 Client Application Has Encountered A Problem And Needs to Close.

It then stated that Microsoft had encountered an error while running Everquest 2 and it needed to be shut down. It then prompted me to send an error report. I hit no... game crashed to desktop. So, I clicked the little icon on my desktop to restart the game, went through same stuff everyone does... hit play... 2mins after I get back into the game, same error. This time I hit send and it kicked me. So, I restarted my computer ran some scans then went to play again. I got about 30mins of play time before I was hit by the error again. Back at desktop and launchpad reloaded for the 4th time in less than 2hours... I ran a full file scan. Got into game... 5mins later... EQ2 Client Application... back at desktop.

I apologize if this has been brought up already, if it has maybe someone could re-direct me... but... I'm at my wits end. I've done everything I can think of and I keep getting that error.

Tnx

Powercycle your modem (just unplug the power for 20-30 seconds) and delete the cache folder in your Everquest 2 directory.

I wanted to thank you for the timely response.

I was able to play a couple of days with no problems after I did the powercycle, but now I'm having the same problem. So should I switch off the wireless, delete cache whenever this problem occours or is there something wrong with my computer?

Tnx

I powercycled and deleted cache file and it worked, but the fact that the error came back only a couple of days after the first time it happened bummed me out. I appercaite you looking into this. SMILEY

I gotta hand it to ya, this is the worst dam thing that has ever happend to me aslo,

1.  Not only is this the most annoying error I have ever had

2.  There is no listed fix for it for all the people who have gotten this error

3.   Some reply on one thread about "oh were sry we found it the best legal thing we could not to delete files on someones computer"

4.    So when you uninstall everything, it doesnt obviously do a clean uninstall because not only does it come back again upon reinstalling, but now it starts crashing memory on top of it sometimes.

5.   Only one stupid donkey option cause they dont got a clean uninstall program to clean up your registry of what ever it is thats causing this crap.    Thats right, its  a  stupid donkey  COMPLETE SYSTEM RECOVERY OF YOUR COMPUTER.

My final thoughts:   Sony dev team can kiss my donkey if they think its not even good enough to offer a clean uninstall pack for people to use that do give permission to remove files.  bunch of legal scared dumb donkeys covering thier donkey's more then the risk people are willing to take.  Kiss my donkey cause I waited twice X a whole stupid donkey 9 hour download, thats 18 hours of downloading and no fix to my prolem, thanks alot you most explicitive you can think of for yourself.

CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM:

I might as well add why I think this happend also, it was when I used my direct install from the main page of eq2, as I had bought my digital download long time ago.  So anyways I start my install, on my freshly newly formated and clean install of windows on my computer after updating my computer and doing drivers and everything.  the second I start installing the client,  I had windows firewall on and the install stoped at the very begining after downloading about 1 MB of downloading and gave me the usual windows firewall options of Unblock or Keep blocking, so I said Unblock and it continued to download normal after that.  AND SO THATS WHEN THIS HAPPEND AFTER THE FULL INSTALLING OF IT.  Then I thought oh, maybe I can fix this by just downloading station launcher, and oooo boy, another folder apreared and downloaded a second set of files for EQ2, then I knew I was really screwed cause it kept doing it. Then I uninstalled everything I could, deleted all files, and then downloaded a fresh install and sure enough it wouldnt work again

NOW YOU FIX! NOW!

Shadowedwolf, what OS are you using, and what video card driver version?

If you happen to be using the nVidia October 5th drivers, look a few threads down to the thread I started about the latest nVidia drivers.

I've had this same problem and it started the day of the last GU. It didnt have anything to do with the Nvidia drivers update, it was before the updae became available. I've had 2 threads on this and none have been answered by Dervs. so good luck getting a fix answer.
