Diamond radeon hd 4850 crashes

I have a Diamond radeon hd 4850, it crashes randomly when i try to play everquest 2. Screen goes black, I have no choice but to do a hard re-boot to get any screen back. This happens every time I try and play this game. Gigabyte ga-x48-dq6 motherboard, 4 gigs ram (corsair), intel duo e8400, 320 gig hard drive. catalyst 08.7 (latest) winxp 32 all service patches. I've updatted to the latest vid bios, drivers, made faster fan speed profiles, nothing helps
