Trying to load up my EQ2 after the update and all is well except when I try to download one of the files it stops my uploads. Any help would be appreciated. I have done a full file scan and even tried rebooting my comp and it didn't work

Try the following. 1. Run the Task Scheduler. (Windows Key, type task scheduler and hit enter) 2. In the left window pane make sure "Task Scheduler Library" is selected. 3. in the Actions pane, click "create task." 4. In the general tab, in the name field type EQ2 5. Make sure the "Run with highest privileges" box is checked. 6. Go to the Actions tab and click the "New..." button. 7. In the "Program/script:" field, use the browse button to locate and select the EQ2.exe file 8. In the "Start in (optional):" field type in the full path to your EverQuest 2 folder. For example: c:program filessonyEverQuest II 9. Click OK when you are finished and then close the Task Scheduler. 10. Right Click on your desktop and select New>Shortcut 11. In the "Type the location of the item:" field enter the following line schtasks /run /tn "EQ2" 12. Click Next and enter EQ2 in the name field then click finish.Once you do that you can go to the properties of your new shortcut and change the icon by clicking the "change Icon..." button and pointing to the EQ2.ico file in your Everquest 2 directory.(thanks wingrider)**You may also need to power-cycle your modem/router**

I can't find Windows Key anywhere, or a task scheduler. I run XP. What's the XP alternative to that?

That fix is for windows Vista. XP will have a different set of issues.Try power-cycling the modem/router and see what that does.

Do you mean rebooting the modem and router? Because my husband has his computer on the same modem and router and he was able to log on just fine.

Alternatively you can try this.We apologize for any difficulty running our games in Vista - Microsoft changed a few settings to Vista that can cause a few issues running some of our games. These instructions will help you load any Windows XP game in Vista:1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Double click on the program launch icon. This should allow you to run your program under Windows Vista. If you need more support, please feel free to email us back and we'll be more than happy to give you further support.

OK, I will need tracert and pathpings now. Open up the Start menu, choose the Run command, type "command" in the space provided, then hit Enter. If you're using Win2k type "cmd" instead of command. For Vista, "type command" at the search bar on the bottom of the Start Menu. The MS-DOS Prompt window should appear with the prompt, "C:windowsdesktop". For Win98/ME or Win2K/XP/Vista, type the following three DOS commands, one at a time, hitting Enter between each command, and waiting for the prompt to reappear: ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt pathping unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt (This may take a few minutes to complete) Finally, upon completion of these commands, you will find a file labeled "eq2info.txt" on the root level of your C: drive. You can use the Find command from the Start menu to locate it. Open the newly generated file (c:eq2info.txt) and copy and paste the information here. Thanks!

![]() Got the patch to work Trevor, if I had to guess based on issues from the other thread, webroot spysweeper has an issue with this patch as its the only similar program I run that the person in that thread does as well. Thanks for the help and for your time. Dennis |

I was having this problem as well and, as someone mention above, disabling Webroot Spysweeper for the duration of the patch solved the problem. I'm on Windows XP SP2

Well if you have already power-cycled the modem, you should try a clean boot then to verify no other programs are blocking ports and such.To disable background programs:1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. If you are still experiencing the same issue, please reply back.
