![]() Greetings- I was wondering if you all would be helpful enough to tell me what AA line/equipment to go down for soloing named mobs for loot-running to earn money? I want to build a swashy primarily for getting good gear from named mobs. Unless there is a better class to use? From what I read, swashy is the best. Thank you for your time, and responses. =) -KillerKaos |

![]() If all your wanting to do is get information so you can be able to run around and be a farmer on your swash and not truly play it to its potential than you are in the wrong forums.. This forum is for those who actual are going to play the class and be thorough in learning it not just enough to go farm... /sarcasm not needed |

![]() Coercer and illusionist are probably the best followed by conjurer and necromancer.

The reason I am wanting to farm named mobs is to be able to buy good equipment, and all adept 3 + master spells, so I can enjoy the game. I am interested in how to truely learn to play the swashy, I just wanted to kill ever named mob and level up to 70 very thoughourly through the game, Know what I mean? Illusionist and coercer and good for soloing nameds? Get back to me thanks!

I have to agree here. Creating a swashy and then asking for help as to how to solo named mobs to make money? 121 dirtybird is right, this forum is not for something like that, it is for people interested in making their swashy better for play, either solo, group or raid. I will have to give you this tho, at least you had the cashews to admit you wanted him for farming, as ridiculous and selfish as that sounds.

swashbuckling, adj. [swosh-buhk-ling, swÅsh-bÅ*k-lÄ“ng] -Though many of us will automatically think of a pirate when we hear this word, it actually refers to the characteristics or manners of a 'swaggering swordsman, soldier, adventurer, or daredevil.' Swashbuckling appeared towards the end of the 17th century as the adjective form of English swashbuckler (circa 1560 CE), the 'swaggering swordsman' mentioned previously. This in turn is was formed by combining English swash and buckle. Swash started out as a noun first recorded in 1538 CE meaning 'the fall of a heavy body or blow' and may have been formed as an imitation of the sound made when this happens. It took on a verb form a few decades later, which appears to be the swash that begat our swashbuckler. |

Well I don't care how you play the game. I'm not going to throw down some harsh judgment on you because you want to play the game a specific way. If you would rather spend your free time trying to earn money by soloing, what is wrong with that? But it would be in your best interest to play another class, as a swashbuckler is not the best class out there to solo. You should watch who you call selfish on a video game forum. Before you throw stones, check to make sure that YOU aren't being selfish by sitting in front of a computer for 3+ hours a day instead of spending time with people in the real world. Does it get any more selfish than that?

Swashy is totally the bestest class to play ... but not necessarily the best class for farming named mobs. You would probably be better off with a Conjuror, Necro, Wizzie, Bruiser, or Monk. OTOH, Swashy is excellent for farming shinies & rare harvests, though that's a somewhat slower process for making money.

Who the hell are you guys to decide the purpose of these forums? Sony didn't name it "Elitist Swashbucklers", they just named it Swashbuckler. As far as I'm concerned that means anyone who chooses the class is welcome to seek answers to any and all questions they may have here.In response to the original question, I recommend that you invest first in Walk the Plank, then Boot Dagger, and then Reach. When you engage named enemies while solo, use a walk the plank to turn them around, then a backstab, then boot dagger to do dmg and go stealthy, then your stealth attack/stun, then a backstab, then your scout-stun-skill, another backstab or other damage attack, your aoe stun/dmg, and lastly another good dmg skill. Provided you don't miss on any of the stuns, you should be able to do all this without the enemy ever turning around or getting a chance to attack you. Now that you're out of stuns, snare him and do ranged autoattacks while running circles around him. If the snare breaks use your ranged dmg/snare skill. After 30 seconds of this your stun-chain will be ready again and you can repeat as many times as it takes to finish him off. If you need to, throw up an Inspiration just before one of the stun-chains for an extra burst of damage.

May I also add that being a farmer takes just as much effort as it is to craft/advent your way into making money. As a farmer to solo names takes a lot of investing into good gears and spells and consumables in order to get a successful hit. Most, if not all the gold/plat you make from farming names would be spent [Removed for Content] your farmer. The time taken to understand the Named and what they're placeholder may be. Farming Names is not just wam bam xp great loot. Farmers study mobs and their class, figure out best equipment, upgrade spells to least Adept 3 , invest a lot of time. A good farmer also need to be sociable as there are named mobs that is requested for quests ( Note I normally shout in zone that particular named is up and if needed would be more than welcome to join me in killing Named : ) That said in my opinion there is no better way to challenge/learn your character play style than to try to take on a named solo. You really have to understand what each of your spells and ability do, to survive a named encounter ( and they don't necessarily pop up without adds ). I personally got to really understand how to play my monk to her best, farming names solo and i totally enjoy playing her and omg, in groups I rock because I know I'm doing the best playstyle for my style to benefit the group. You would not get the same learing curve as you would just taking on soloable mobs unless they are several levels higher than you or in group as you would have added benefits/factors from other team players. The word Farming has been given a bad image because of Gold Farmers out there. Please do try to understand that there are gold farmers and FARMERS, FARMERS which to my opinion is no different play gaming style as an ADVENTURER or CRAFTER. .... :- )

OH and let me also add A FARMER like any farmer in real life knows their TURF. They've taken the time to know what is in the zone be it Names, mobs and what they are related to questing or what not. In channels when a peep might ask something in regards to a particular zone or mobs, one of the fastest to respond would be a FARMER. To be a successful farmer one needs to be well informed and have plenty of time and patience.

It sounds like it may be more acceptable to call yourself a "treasure hunter" instead of "farmer."Some people like to solo, some like to group. Some like playing casually, some hardcore. Some like the challenge of doing a group dungeon by yourself with a non-optimal class, and have money to level with. Then there are those who like to tell everyone else their playstyle is wrong and must conform to their standards or be banished. At least the guy was here asking how to make money in game by putting in effort, and not asking where the best site to buy plat is.Get over yourself.

I'm an officer of a level 66 guild, I do a ton of writs and I absolutely detest tradeskilling. I do writs to earn status for my guild AND TO MAKE PLAT. I group a lot in PuG's and assist my guild with any heroic content they need for epic updates etc... By farming, I have made my toons as powerful as I can without raiding. The people I run PuG's with I'm sure appreciate the fact I've spent the time making my toons as uber as possible. Farming is not a bad thing, it's how some of us need to make the plats to get our upgrades. I don't sell it on line, so it shouldn't be a problem. If we weren't supposed to farm while doing writs, I don't think they would be repeatable. Just my two cents. I pay my subscription fee and I play with honor and respect to my fellow MMO'rs
