I have a lvl 16 Q wizard, the only post lvl 9-wizard I've ever had.  Neither he nor I have not done much pvp, but he is twinked out pretty good: all MC / TD gear, fully adorned, 1.25 AA short of manashield, totems, and potions.  So he isn't too worried when a solo tune, 2 levels lower attacks him.

Or at least he wasn't.

Yesterday he was looking for names and harvesting in the Bog next to South Qeynos when he noticed somebody next to him.  My wizard ignored the other toon at first but began to suspect the other toon was attacking him.  Just to be safe, my wizard casted a spell on the other toon, and sure enough the other guy was a lvl 14 Freep.  Turns out the other toon was a shadowknight, although I did not know that until later.

Much to my surprise, I start losing the fight.  My wizard and the shadowknight are going toe-to-toe, and the fight goes down to the wire with me slightly behind.  I'm pretty sure my wizard is now going to lose, but somehow he pulls out the win.  Immediately afterwards his health jumps back up to about 75%.  I have no idea why.

I have a lvl 15 shadowknight on a different server and I like him quite a bit.  But I never expected my fully twinked out wizard would come close to losing to a shadowknight 2 levels lower.  Is that normal, to be expected?  In other words, are wizards so bad at fighting that you would expect a lvl 14 fighter to defeat a lvl 16 wizard one-on-one if both are twinked?

My wizard did several things wrong.  First of all, he went toe-to-toe.  He should have chained down or rooted the shadowknight and put some space between the two of them to avoid melee combat.  He forgot about his cold whorl and another spell that might have softened up the shadowknight and he forgot about his heal potion that might have ensured his victory.

Even still I was amazed at how good the shadowknight was at "healing".  I suppose I should not have been because my lvl 15 shadowknight is twinked out too and sometimes takes on a crowd of NPC mobs all at once and his health bar doesn't drop.  Just the power bar goes down.

In the combat log I saw this note about the shadowknight my wizard fought.  I have no idea what it means:

""Shadowknight So-and-So" is protected through an infernal pact."  I do not know if that means the shadowknight my wizard fought had some sort of ward I don't know about.

Anyway, I just wanted to post something about the fight.  It was quite an eye-opener.  I had no idea shadowknights could fight so well, no idea what the "infernal pact" statement meant, and no idea why my wizard's health popped back up to around 75% immediately after the shadowknight died.  (I am aware that health does, or did, pop to 100% everytime you gain a tenth of a adventure level, but I'm pretty sure my wizard's health did not pop back to 100%, just to about 75%.)

Live and learn.  Thanks for any thoughts.

Ok. I'm going to TRY to be good, but many things are clear about your post.1). You don't know how to tell a FP opponent at a glance. This is quite dumb.2). The first spell you cast wasn't root. This is staggeringly dumb for a PvP wizard catching someone by surprise.3). You're harvesting in the Bog, which is the point of egress for all bad guys into Qeynos. Also not bright.4). You have a 15 shadowknight and no idea what Infernal Pact is. This is also staggeringly dumb. It's one of the sk's very best spells. It also shows that your wizard was actually meleeing while casting, which is again, staggeringly dumb.My advice, and I couldn't be more passionate about it, really, is to learn various toons on a different server before you go playing at PvP. You're due for some serious frustration if you don't learn all the tactics you can, and all the ins and outs elsewhere. It's clear you barely know what you're doing.Your first thing to do is to visit various PvP threads on the Wizard boards and learn some tactics. I'm pretty good, but not the best.  I know for certain that if I were the wizard in this situation, he never would have touched me. On the other hand, if I was the SK in this situation, I am also certain I would have easily beaten your wizard, even with your gear. The fact that you're this inept, and yet in possession of top-rate gear, fully adorned, with totems and whatnot kinda makes me want to vomit, to be honest.

Why in the WORLD is the op wasting folks time talking about low teen pvp?

Fine, pvp (on a pve game, but whatever), but at least talk about it at higher or end game levels.

Yeah I know about level locking, but still.    teen pvp?  lol like wasting time with teenage love..

i too cannot understand how the OP has a shadowknight of their own and not understand how the one that almost kicked his [Removed for Content] was able to heal.  I do not play on a PvP server... are you not able to see someone else's class when you target them on a pvp server?  also it isn't likely that you will ever take a PC out with one nuke, so is best to stun with stun or root.  goes the same for mobs too sometimes.  the SK would still be able to cast back but not as hard as you.  also do not melee... i have to agree that is kinda dumb.  if you are gonna melee roll a scout or fighter.  as for the comment about anything proccing the blessing, my SK is 36 and i have never seen a spell hit proc it, only melee.  not sure if it works differently on pvp servers.
