When did this start, and how long were you playing on this machine before it started?

This same problem started for me today (2008FEB02). I have been playing for years without a single problem - this is new.The login works fine but when it goes to the character display screen the graphics get all flickery and then "corrupt" causing a complete system crash. I am running an ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro. (Been using this card for awhile without any problems).I haven't done anything new to my system since I played last night. This problem appeared entirely "out of the blue". I downloaded the latest drivers for the card but this did not seem to have any effect. Please help !

I had an x800 pro that did the same thing until finally the computer would not boot anymore. I applied a can of air to the fan of he air for a month to get by.

Thankyou for the response.I was most afraid of that reply though. I ran a stability test on the card and it failed. Although I don't notice any other problem other than in EQ2, I fear that you may be correct. The graphics get all fluttery at the start and then within seconds scramble to the point that the computer crashes. So far I have not noticed anything wrong in general use (other than in the game).I hate to replace the card - I have TV out set up nicely and am loathe to change the setup. If I get an identical card, would the installed drivers just swap over (meaning that I wouldn't have to change much) - just physically install the new card ?

From the posts above, I'd say it's time to replace the card.
