Ok so i have a Necro (high elf woot SMILEY ), and a guardian, my necro was officially my main because it was my first toon made, but conjy got very bored and my guardian zipped past it, not somthing i likeSo anyway after a long betrayal, and getting Masot back to my main bu nearly 3 levels (alot for me trust me)I have began to wonder what i should be having, spell, armour and weapon wise, to solo dungeonsI have full level 42 Mastercrafted atm and haandmade level 40 jewlery (as you may guess i'm in the 40s. 45 near 46 to be exact)I'm past soloing varsoon (which really upset me i dinged 45 and someone said "aww well no more varsoon for you SMILEY", and i suddenly relised necros are aparently able to solo dungeonsSo, my next target is runnyeye (or any other dungeon a necro could solo, suggestions?)So really for those who cba reading long posts (that includes me), what i would like to know is how many levels higher than a dungeon does a necro have to be to solo it? what level spells are best for it, or minumum for it, and any legendary armour/weapons a aspiring necro should know abuot? Thanks very much SMILEY

For necro's armor doesn't mean much.  I solo'd most of the time with treasured drop items.  What really counts is spells - get most to adept III and pets to adept III or master I.   You pet is your life - not your gear.  If you plan to solo dungeons then get your AA's up to speed:  Tainted Heals, Stamina line, then lifeburn (5 pts into Enhance Warrior pet is helpful, too).  Focus on your tank pet.

Short reply:

With MC gear, Tainted Heals, the Summoner STA line, and Adept 3 tank pet/defensive stance you are good to go soloing dungeons 5-10 levels below you.

Long reply:

At your level stick with the 1st half of RE (before you head down the 2nd circular pathway).  There are plenty of named mobs and there isn't alot of killing you have to do other than the placeholders.

I would wait until 47/48 to hit the remainder of RE as there are several see invis mobs further in (especially the Evil Eye's).  You can kill them at 42, but you will spend a majority of time killing trash mobs, plus if you don't hit your FD quick enough when things go wrong you will have to spend time working back past them.   Farming RE pretty much ended for me around 51/52 as the only nameds left at 52 are in the 2 instances.

Now for the gear discussion.   I prefer all MC gear with as much INT as possible so I can take on ^^^ mobs at my level when needed.  With the right AA's you can get your pet to taunt mobs off you 100% of the time (STA in the Summoner line) plus keep him healed through some very tough mobs (Tainted Heals), so I don't worry about STA.  I am not sure if you mentioned it but Tainted Heals is a 100% must for the solo dungeon crawler.  Line up all the spells that heal your pet with TH next to each other on a hot bar and spam them as needed.  I like to get my pet on the mob cast every single DOT I have and then heal away, recasting the DOT's as needed.

As far as spells go I have only four Adept 3's that are a must to me, my tank pet, the lightning bolt icon spell (sorry at work don't remember the name), defensive pet stance (unless it is a M2 option), and our quickest DOT.  Other than those 4 I have mostly App 4 as Adept 1's on Crushbone are to pricy for me.  My theory is that we have so many DOT's to get stacked on the named mobs that I don't worry about a few extra points of damage versus what the rares would cost me in time or gold.  Obviously if you are wealthy then Adept 3 as many DOT's as you can.

With the set up above I can fight named mobs pretty close to my level though I try to keep them 7-10 levels below me to speed things up.  Regular ^^^ heroics I fight when needed up to 2 levels above me.  For example at level 45 I wanted to get the teleport to Sol Eye in Lavastorm so I made my way through the temple (very slowly) having to kill several 46 and 47^^^ see invis guys.  They took most of my power each fight but it was challenging.

One final thought.  I always keep hearts ready to go and will cast one early in the battle if I know it will be a long one, that way in a minute I can have another one ready.  I also use the spell to take power from my pet as I can keep him healed.

 Have fun!

What are the hearts you talk about?  I'm a new necro, and haven't used this ability.

Thanks.

The "heart" spells he/she is referring to are:level 18 - Splintered HeartLevel 33 - Dark HeartYou get another at level 47 and 61 (not sure of any after level 61). At any rate, it's a good habit to cast before you go out hunting. Put the item (summoned heart) from your inventory into your hotbar somewhere. You get 3 with each cast. They come in handy when you are getting low on power and need to get some power asap. (ie: in a tough fight where you are almost out of power (mana in EQ1 terms) I'm level 38 now and I've started using the hearts a lot, along with the spell that takes pet health and transfers it to power for me (level 28 - Bloody Ritual) Those two spells combined have helped save quite a few fights for me already (ie: named mob fights - pet orange and I'm just about out of power to cast a spell for tainted heals).Hope this info helps
