Got up this morning to find a e-mail from Amazon in my inbox timed at 02:09

Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date: "Everquest II: Rise Of Kunark (PC)" [Video Game] Estimated arrival date: 15/11/07 - 16/11/07We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Hopefully, it'll be by Friday 16th in time for the weekend. If I remember right, the same happened (for me) with EoF - guess my characters will never get a "discovery" first. It's the price us Brits pay for playing a predominantly US game I s'pose...

EDIT: Amazon reports out of stick, Play.com reports the release date as 16/11/07. No RoK by the weekend then unless I **gasp** go to the shops. Yeuch, what a horrid thought

I hear this all the time with online ordering.  It's best if you want it on release day to get it retail.

When trying to buy From Direct2drive using a UK credit card + address:

I too ordered from 3 copies from Amazon, and recieved an email from amazon saying it wont be available for dispatch untill 15th.

Cant order it from the Sony or DirectToDrive

also same problem  ordered from amazon 16 oct only to be told today that it is unavailable also from uk so cant use d2d  so has the launch day been moved or is this just a sony screw up on distribution come on devs awnsers pls

This definitely sucks, I got the same thing. Cancelled my pre-order with Amazon, managed to find where to order the digi-download from station (at 50% more cost near enough ) and it seems like I am screwed over for the pre-order bonus items. I feel a /petition coming on if my /claim is disappointing

The likelyhood of finding an Everquest 2 game (or any MMOG other than WoW) in the shops here is close to nil.

Just managed to buy it from dlgamer.com, Used paypal to pay and got the email with download details + keys in about 15 mins.

Cancelled my Amazon UK order...

Used the keys to upgrade my 2 accounts and my wife's 1 - all 3 accounts now Kunark enabled with Pre-order bonus pet too

 Just need to download the installer and wait till the expansion hits the server some time late this evening UK time...

One of the reasons i use Amazon.co.uk is because of the way they normally post it the day before it is due for release.  That way i get it on the day of release.Just spent the last few hours on the phone and looks like its not in any shops close to me.  One assistant offered to sell me a book they in stock about Everquest caller "The everquest reader".  I declined the offer with insulting her which i will class as my good deed for the day

I was in 4 different shops in London in and around oxford street, game, hmv etc, and all said they wouldn't be here till friday.

The 16th is a friday - isn;t that the normal release date for software/movies over there? In the states the normal release date is on a tuesday

Sounds like they are following the normal proceedure, the pre-order page comes down right before midnight of the release date, then the order page will be up around the time the servers come back up on release date

and? there is no such thing as a usual release day. the dvd's can be produced 24 hours a day and the wroldwide logisitcs work 24 hours per day as well. putting them on the shelf takes less than 5 mins too....

True it is the normal date for it to be a friday but i got EoF last year on the right date, same time it was released in america. This time round SOE seem to have forgotten to ship the goods.

manufacturering maybe, but the distribution world tends to stick with a standard release date for a multimedia product, hence the fact majority of multimedia releases are done on a tuesday in the US, rarely does it change for anything. The retail/shipping outlet may have the product in the back room 2 or 3 days prior to the tuesday but they cannot put it out. have seen store managers and floor saless people fired for releasing a product early.

BTW, before you ask, yes I ordered retail, mine are not not due to be delivered till 11/15, I do need to call and yell at the online retailer though, did not get the email for the pre-ordert pet key.

It can be any day.  Its a fact that stuff can be sitting in a storeroom a couple of days before the release date.The lastest Harry Potter dvd was released  on monday, however some of the display stands arrivied on  the Thursday before to be put up on Saturday and the DVD's arrived on the Saturday ready to be put out at 6am on Monday morning.For Amazon not to know until the date of release that they would not be in stock ready to ship seems very strange.  However trying to get a reason out of the help line is worse than getting blood from a stone.

funny, they sacked the local B Dalton manager for selling the dvd on monday rather then the official release date of tuesday

Just been all round the Trafford Centre and no one has it in stock. GAME went as far to say that it's not even something they'd stock in store any more. What a complete joke this has been. Had no problems with getting the EoF dvd last year. In fact, I think it was delivered on the Monday

ML, I started out this morning at Game in Cheshire Oaks/Coliseum. Last year I went to that very store for Echoes of Faydwer, and the lad told me they only get deliveries on a Friday. I implored him to take a look, as 13th was the release date and lo and behold, they had received a copy that morning.

In the same store this morning they had had a delivery, but the guy said RoK was not included. I asked him to look in his delivery book (after he told me the same thing as last year, they only get new games on a Friday) and there it was in the book: Rise of Kunark, 13th November - "Top Stores Only".

I asked him what he thought was a Top Store, he suggested the one in the Trafford Centre - glad I didn't go there now, in the rain, on my motorbike, with a brand new tyre (slippy as ....).

I've been to Game in Birkenhead and Liverpool, and also Game Station in Birkenhead and Liverpool. Most haven't heard of it. Game in Liverpool had the same info as Game at Cheshire Oaks - it is released today to Top Stores Only...

He reckons Bootle might have it, or the Trafford Centre - and as you've said no from the Trafford Centre I can't be bothered going to Bootle (it's STILL raining).

Might just have to bite the bullet and order online. At least it's not the end of the world...

I'd be very interested to hear if anyone in the UK has managed to get hold of a copy from a store today...anybody?

Hoping my retail is in my hands today.. Gamestop, as previously posted, called me to say I could pickup my retail as early as 11am EST..Here's hoping they arrived.. Wish all luck in the UK.. Does seem to be a tad bit dry over there at times with releases
