Seems so intertwined with Everling at this point. Given that statement I dont really see the Lore carrying into the new lands of Rok but I hope the lore for Everyling/varsoon/Void is continued in this expansion.I have recently realized how much I need to revisit Nek 3 and complete the book quests and research in there to figure out if the Book of Sundering is truly a dead end or just yet to be unlocked at the moment. I havent seen anyone yet post success in opneing the book but I also havent seen anyone that has completed all the subsequent findings concerning Everline which may lead to a successful password for the book and potentially open more information up about the void.

It's a wild hunch, but I think we might find Shadowedmen lore in the ruins of Chelsith, come RoK.  That's where the Stone of the Shissar was found, which contained both the Rune of Vul (which allows travel to the Void) and the Rune of Sunder (which may be tied to Luclin's destruction).  So I expect interesting things to come out of there.

Update  from last night - I was able to advance the search for everling and tie to the shadowmen a bit. The next step is going to take a while. It has lead me to the Ewer of Sul'Dae (I guess this makes sense as the Ewer was supposed to be the fountain of life so seeking it out for everlasting life seems to fit) which is, as far as I know, only present in the inner temple of the Godking. Anyone else gotten to that point or beyond from everling idol inscription research path?

Actually, Everling wasn't looking for Eternal Life (or Unlife, as the Ewer ended up giving people), Everling was looking for a means of getting to his families back, there have been several cryptic inuendos left by Vhalen regarding the Everlings, and the curse that seems to plague their patriarch.  Notice, too, that one of his wives is listed among the Knights of Valor, who's statue you must obtain during the SoD line (Lady Theeral).

As for the location of the Ewer, at the end of the Peacock quest line, you shatter it with the Rod of Rathe Shattering, and from the tid bits you hear around Neriak, it sounds like some of the Teir'Dal crept in there, and attempted to rebuild it, adding to their Vampire infestation in the process.

Unfortunately, little of this has anything to do with the Vulians.  More info is obtained when reading their scrolls in the Obelisk of Blight.  It seems that that particular outpost was assigned with harnessing the power of the bloom that Tunare left under Woushi's care.  Again, this is my inference from the scrolls, I don't believe it's ever outright stated.  [Removed for Content] ambiguouity!

True but as a giver of life the ewer would be an object everling would have sought to bring his families back. I am just curious how this path is started after the symbols from the obelisk outpost are discovered in Nek 3 as well and when we find the allegedly dead end dialog at the book in nek 3 containing the symbols as well where the password text has yet to be discovered.I am wondering how they intertwine, if at all, or if Vhalen is just messing with us. Would be awesome if somehow we found the password in the discovery of the ewer of sul'dae to unlock the book and continue the search for the symbols in nek 3. Well, as they say, curiosity killled the kerran,

Yes, I am going back to Nek 3 as well to finish the collections in there and search the place upside and down. Need a full group of 70's with some decent time to kill. You can clear the zone in about a 1-2 hours depending on if you clear it or clear it to get the named alone. Personally, I would like to spend some good time in there not only clearing the named and all mobs but truly searching the place and finishing up the collections in there. The roamers repop so beware. There is book there which no one I know of has been able to open yet.You have to do the peacock line to get the NPC's to advance a non-existent quest. They each give you clues of find this person, find this thing kind of clues. Each "clue" seems to change the text of the next which are all previously visited NPC's during the peacock line so far. Frustrating thing is ending up at raiding the Godking, that is a time investment in farming the eyes and doing the raid to begin with. And so begins the next step.

Ok. The NDA's been lifted, so I can finally tell you this about the shadowmen involved in Kunark.

*ehem*

....THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS EXPANSION.

There's no shadowmen or other void creatures anywhere in this expansion, and thank goodness too, because all we'd ever get are more questions for questions instead of actual answers, just like Obelisk of Blight gave us.

I'm with Cusa on this one. I originally found the Shadowmen storyline intriguing, back in EQ1 and carrying over into EQ2. But it seems like it never evolves, so I'm glad it is just left out of this expansion until they plan on actually making something happen.

Actually we did get some answers from EoF and the Obelisk of Blight.  We learned that the Shadowedmen are under the rule of a greater being and they have the power to subvert other creatures as we saw with the Fae.

Another thing we learned is that they choose specific targets for fuel instead of randomly going after targets here and there.  Among this we learned they do not go after draconic targets because the risk is more than the reward.  Woushi was an exception to this rule because he was in control of Tunare's mystical Flower that contained energy from the Plane of Growth.

And those answers only lead to new questions that never got answered. Its game of 1 step forward 2 steps back.

It seems we still have several paths of knowledge which have yet to be fully explored.

I was really hoping there would be more, given the whole Stone of Shissar thing.  I know, some people are sick of the storyline, but I'm still hopeful we'll actually learn what's going on some day.  SMILEY

This may or may not be related, but just past the entrance in Chardok, there is a large room called the "Wind Chamber" with a spinning platform over a pit, and bordered by a series of large horns. When I stepped on the platform, I got a series of messages that the horns were sounding, each with a short name, sounding a little familiar, but specifically among them, the names Vul and Zet. When they were finished, they spawned some named mob, but nothing that seemed all that interesting. The model of it was one of the ice/glass creatures, like the ice things in Everfrost.

I can't at the moment remember specifically where the list of names is from, but I remember seeing it somewhere, possibly in the Obelisks. But I know specifically that Vul and Zet are the names given to the Obelisks of Lost Souls and Blight, respectively.

I do know that I've seen the names Vul and Zet in separate places though. Vul is also the name for one of the runes in the "To Speak as a Dragon" quest, and Zet is also the name of one of the shrines needed to be found for the Druziac quest. So I'm not completely sure if this is related or not.

Then lets look at this..There's a drop from Chelsith: Chamber of Destiny.. which from what I understand is a segment of the old Libraries that the shissar wrote books about inter-dimensional happenings. The item is called "The Stone of Chelsith".The picture of the item is the infamous "Future of Everquest 2" with the symbols and such. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1..._Hint_sized.jpgThey may have left the shadowmen out because they DIDN'T want to bring up more questions.. but I highly doubt we'll be missing our answers this time, gentlemen.

Very interesting, that symbol is familiar from EQ1. I want to say it looks like something from neriak or Iksar ruins.

That 'rabbit'/'ferret'/'weasel' creature thing seems to be the symbol of the Teir`Dal

most people associate that symbol with the Wurm Queen. the most famous depiction with that setup has other diety pictures on it, and seems to work with the deals originally made to counter Veeshan's claim to Norrath.

I saw this symbol last night on one of those zoning splash screens. I was moving from butcherblock to gfay. It was mixed in with various other pictures, none of which stood out.

The Vul are also an alien race mentioned in one of the Remembrance books that relates to the Shadowed Men, a lobster-like species that wanted the trans-racial council they were part of to investigate a shadowy tower.  That one syllable, three-letter word certainly does pop up in a lot of places - Intelligent seafood, Dragon alphabet, and killer nothingness from another dimension's base of operations.Crazy.
