Why the only Mount that has to stay equipped?

Why is it that the "Overclocked Gnomish Hovering Device" is the only mount in the game (to the best of my knowledge) that has to remain equipped in the charm slot to stay active?

All other mounts (again, to the best of my knowledge) including horses, wargs and carpets, DO NOT have to remain in the charm slot. They can be placed anywhere in your inventory, dragged to your hotbar and cast in any appropriate zone. However, the Overclocked Hovering Device MUST remain in the charm slot........if you drag this item to your inventory or un-equip it after casting the mount, Then the mount disappears ;(

As a tinkerer, I really do enjoy this mount. It's one of the only clouds in the game (minus the disk whish is kinda cloudlike) and has a decent speed boost. I'm just curious why it's the only mount that cannot be used directly from the inventory like all other mounts?

i really don know. what i do know is, it is VERY different from all other mounts, and until we get a breeder tradeskill class, it is the only crafted mount. it is also generally cheaper than most mounts, also. dosnt it have a limited charge?

cheaper ? .... not really once you figure in how long it takes to get the skill to make/use it. The item is 10 charges and you can make gasser items to recharge it (costs a few gold in fuel). I would like to note that the "must stay equipped" is only true until you use the last charge once the item hit 0/10 you can remove it and stay on the cloud. No idea why SMILEY
