I was thinking of making a Sarnak defiler? Are they a decent solo class? I have a Fury who can't solo with a [Removed for Content]. Retired and is a tradeskiller only.

If you don't like the fury's solo situation, you probably won't like any of the healing classes.  The fury tends to set a better pace because of there slightly better DPS.  A defiler isn't an upgrade in soloing terms.  A fury is generally considered one of the better soloers due to their survivability and reasonable dps (of which the other healers lack).  Great group classes, the healers, but horrid soloers if you are prone to falling asleep during long battles.

saying a Fury does slighty better dps than a Defiler is a huge understatement.  We have 1 nuke and everytning else is a DoT.  when you're talking about surviving an encounter.  I would say hands down a defiler can and will out last a fury, but   and this is a huge BUT  A fury doesn't need to survive long because basicly whoever they are engaged with doesn't live very long.

When we are comparing dps between Fury and Defiler it's like comparing apples with toilet paper...  Two completely different classes when it comes to that sort of thing.

Honestly though you're not going to like soloing with a Defiler for prolly 58 lvls, and even after that we kill nice and slow.

I can tell you this much though.. There's only a few named out there that I can't solo, and stuff like dueling  most classes will avoid us, but at the same time we have a few classes that we should avoid in duels  =)   but that's beyond the point.

All and all the defiler is a great class for groups and raids.  For solo play...  there is prolly quite a few better classes out there for you.  If you do decide to go all the way with a defiler anyway and do plan on soloing  I highly suggest you do that quest in BoneMire to get your Thermal shocker.  That baby brings us up to 2 nukes.  [Removed for Content]

Edit: BTW  I'm on some pretty sick meds right now for a nasty cold I got.  So if none of this makes sense  I'll prolly come back in a few days and fix it  SMILEY

For solo, I find I can't kill stuff fast at all, but I can generally just last indefinately and whittle stuff down.  I can solo a lot of stuff that guildmates of all classes have difficulty soloing as easily.  But that's taking into account the fact my power is nearly unlimited with canni and other class tools and that I can debuff the heck out of the mob(s) and just take my time killing them.  If you're looking for a class that can gain experience quickly solo, then it's probably not going to be the class for you.

If it means much, so far my defiler is my absolute favorite character out of the ones I've played.  I've leveled conjuror and troubadour to 70, and have paladin, monk, and guardian alts I dink around with.  I haven't found the enjoyment with any of those that I have found with my defiler.

You did not state what level your fury is (was). My lvl 70 fury, medium raid gear, can go into the gazer temple in TT, hit some spells, heal once, use call of storms, 30 seconds later dead 12-15 gazers. My lvl 64 defiler takes that time to kill 1 (1!!) blue con mob. I know defile at lvl 65 will change that a bit, but still...
