There is no best. You can spec and gear either class towards more DPS or tanking. Each has some very useful and unique abilities, but you can't really say one is better than the other.

To many factors involved to say which does more DPS. But if we goto the root. Being solo fights with the same gear and both completely mastered and L70 with 100 AA's I would give the uppter hand to a Bruiser. In pure burst DPS they win. In longer fights the Monk will catch up but once the Bruiser's CA's refresh he will climb back on top.In a raid group with no haster then the Monk will often win the DPS war. With a haster the Bruiser a Monk climb back into a battle.Case in point. Last night on an ALT's raid into labs me and a Bruiser (both mains) parsed completely different. I finished with a 1500 ZW while he hit just over 1000 ZW (he died a few times). The major difference here was he specced down the AGI for Altrisizm to become more raid friendly. Both of us are 90%+ mastered and around the same gear. He was in a really crappy group while mine has an Inquisitor in it.So you can see why it seems like a simple 1 or 2 for you it's not in the real game play. Saying one out DPSes the other isn't going to be fact. One thing I will say is when it comes to raids a Monk is more useful then a Bruiser. That wasn't always the case but Monks now have one of the best raid wide buffs in the game while bruisers got the shaft with the change to theirs.

In my experience playing a similarly specced and equipped 70 Monk and 70 Bruiser (pre EoF), the Bruiser will generally outparse the Monk. When you use Knockout Combination you will outparse any thing a Monk can do. Brusiers deliver most of their DPS in 20-30 seconds so short fights favour them. On a series of long encounters (ie EoF raids) I could see a monk outperforming, but for group DPS a Bruiser.

Tnx for some real replys. hate those Chuck Norris replys..i whil most likely never raid. But if monks CD are 30s and bruisers are 45s, it whil take a few min before the monk reach the lvl of dps that the bruiser do. whil i see a few min long fight whitout raids? who is "best" at solo named/heroic mobs.I realy dont like to use the word best, but i can only betray before lvl 18 right? and i do not whanna start "all over".and when i ask for who do the most dps i thinking of a monk and a bruiser in the same gear, whitout any AA and played whit the same player.

![]() They both have their good and bad points, and looking back, as EQ2 is a dynamic game, you shouldn't base your decision on one or two skills / DPS ratings, as these change. Currently: Monk is better for raids, Bruiser better for groups, but this is marginal, as both can bring a lot to either. Create a separate Bruiser and see how you get on, see which one you connect with. Which City would you like to be based in?

you can betray any time you want, but each time you do all of your combat arts are reset to app 1
