Hi All

Played a raiding mystic through tier 5, t6 and kos raids, sometimes in the mt group. I had joined a new raid Aussie guild early this year, and found that they preferred 2x defilers in the raid, and they opted for a 2nd, newly leveled defiler instead of a seasoned, experienced mystic in the OT group.... and i'd like to think im a fairly good player.

I knew there was something very wrong with the mystic class (and the guild for that matter) when there are raid guilds that prefer to put a defiler in both the mt, ot group, and the mystic gets a go if one of the defilers don't show up. Its also obvious with the amount of people that have betrayed to a defiler..

So after paying my sub since release and playing a raiding mystic in every raid zone, and not wanting to become a defiler like the hordes of ex- mystics seem to have done, is anything on the horizon for mystics to be a wanted class, to be on level pegging with defilers in terms of contributing to a raid mt/ot group?

I have been paying the subscription for the last few months even though I haven't been playing, in the hope mystics would one day be as equally valued as a defiler in any tank group and the guild I was in would come around..   However, its getting to the point, after sooooo much enjoying playing a wolf shaman in vanguard (coh + stealth rocks), that I now look at the mystic in complete frustration..... the ugly duckling of the shaman class.

I'll check around in a year's time, but until then the only money worth shelling out to soe is for vanguard, there has been great progress and I'm excited, so much fun

Scratch that, not going to bother coming back to the game

The 30% sub increase for Aussies made that decision an easy one.

Best of luck in the future everyone

Not really sure what you're talking about in some of your post, or what Sub increases have to do with anything. But I understand where you're coming from.I was the MT Mystic in a raiding alliance for almost a year, then was replaced by a newly leveled Defiler in treasured gear. It's odd, but at the same time it's really the decision of the tank as to who they want to use. It's actually a limitation of the defiler class that makes them the MT group shaman of choice.Almost none of their buffs and abilities work outside the group, whereas a fair number of the Mystic classes best abilities can be used raid-wide.Why your guild would OPT for TWO Defilers is beyond me. I mean, Mystics bring so much to the table, not to mention the lack of regard for your dedication. It honestly sounds like you just need to look for a different group of people to raid with.Mystics kick some serious butt over what they were a year ago though. It's worth looking into, unless you just really aren't interested in coming back, in which case, enjoy SMILEY<img src=" />

I played on a PvE server for a long time and know that Defilers are a better choice healer for MT group then Mystic. So it is in the best interest of the guild to switch you out. But at the same time you should still be an important aset to the guild, as you would be a better healer for the Mage group or off tank group. I play on Nagafen Qeynos so Im alwayz in the MT group because we cannot have a defiler. But If i was in your place I would just go DPS spec on your mystic. Get all your melee attacks with 5 AA points, get the 100% melee crit and get the chance to double attack. Get yourself a good one handed Melee weopon and you can be in the dps group. I can parse with my mystic about 1k plus in a raid. So you can help out in dps and be a great healer for the dps group. You would still have alot of fun, you dont need to be in the MT group just to be important.

Hearing that OP is a raider and probably enjoyed that fact that he/she was the first line of defense for the MT, I doubt OP wants to go through the dps route, although with RoK coming, it no longer matters as you can switch the AA settings.Even above 500hp+ advantage of Defiler's buff, I think more importantly the draw to Defilers is just that they last longer than Mystics. I guess OP's guild just latched onto that fact and ignored the advantage of Mystics that being MT stat buff, better aoe debuff, Oberon etc... That's just laziness or ignorance. All things considered, Defilers to Mystic is Warden to Fury but to a lesser degree. With AA pet finally getting fixed, Mystics will have stronger pet, much better dps & solo/duo ability, and more flexiblity to fill in different rolls: healer, dps or even tankall the while being interchangeable in MT/OT main healer roll with Defilers w/o much difference. Now if that doesn't entice you and you are strictly a raider, maybe you might wantto consider a betrayal. Personally I learned to accentuate my advantage when I need toand love getting compliments from surprised players on how well I heal, dps, tank.Personally, I see a lot of drama in raiding guilds and guilds can shrink to nothingnessrather quickly or some of those that raid all the time eventually get tired of materialistic natureof many raiding guilds, or the raiding itself and leave to find peace in smaller close net group.By the way, what kind of group put you to the sideline after your long raiding commitment? Heartless...I do notice that there are hordes more Defilers specially since Neriak arrived and probably even more so with upcoming evil Sarnak. It's just the nature of having new evil race to play with. With that in mind, you may as a Mystic have better chances at getting the fableds looted also.Should you come back? I think I never been happier with my Mystic than I am now.I'm glad that I didn't delete him long after I deserted him. Fizzled, Interrupts, Death by greys while failing to cast, No Way and No more. Not having to deal with that alone saved my Mystic.

I really hate these generalizations without putting in a clause of "All other things equal."  Because honestly if you have a sucky player defiler and a rocking mystic, the mystic would be better in the MT group.

A guild though that decides to do 2 defilers though and no mystics... Thats well I can't even think of a good term to describe the intellectual level of the guild that probably wouldnt be filtered.  My advice if you change your mind and want to come back... Find a new home.  Those _______(descriptive derogatory) don't deserve a mystic.
