For a long time, one of my characters has been able to get into the Splitpaw upper tunnels.  However, he had never completed the requirements for the glowing shard that would transport him to the Splitpaw den.  He just finished a quest that gave him the glowing shard, and then wanted to finish "A Light in the Dark."  However, now I find that the character can't enter the upper tunnels.  (I can zone to the den and then zone to the upper tunnels from there, but that doesn't put me where I want to go. )So, is this working the way it's supposed to?  Once you get the glowing shard and can travel directly into the Splitpaw den, can you no longer enter the upper tunnels near the site of the Skindancer gnolls?

They changed it with the last live update earlier this week that player characters above 60 instantly go right to the Splitpaw Den and dont have to deal with the upper tunnels.

Right up until I got the shard, though, I could zone in to the upper tunnels.  Now that I can no longer do that, is there a way that I can finish the quest, "A Light in the Dark?"  More specifically, how can I get to the upper tunnels if I can't zone into there?  If I zone from the den to the "upper tunnels" it puts me in a room where I am trapped without dynamite.

You can exit from the lower back into the upper tunnels.

From the lower back? Where is that? Where does it put you in the upper tunnels?

Eh, there should be a keg there, I go this way often on my chars to pick up shinies along the way. Look at the left side, I think its near a brazier or something.

I found the barrel and blew out that wall, but then my character was on a ledge with a couple of stubborn boards that could only be placed at certain angles and I don't seem to be able to get anywhere useful with them.  I fell in the hole trying, and although I found a barrel in that room to blow out the wall that was blocking me in down there, I still couldn't get up to the beginning part of the upper tunnels.  Is there a secret tunnel or something that I'm missing?  BTW, what's the reasoning behind no longer qualifying to enter the upper tunnels via TS after you earn trust?

I usually use the boards and boxes to get over the chasm to the solid ground to your left as you exit through the hole you just blasted.

Okedokie, so I go up on that ledge to the left...that would be the ledge I crossed over from when I came to the den from above, right?  If I were to go to the trouble of arranging those items and crossing over, what good does this do me?  Even at this point, how can I get back into the UPPER part of the upper tunnels -- the place where you enter if you zone in from TS?  Is there a path that leads back up from there?GAH!! I sure wish I could go back and not finish that quest for the glowing shard!

yes, there are 2 walls you need to blow open, but you can walk all the way up to TS from there.

Sorry, I'm not sure why you can't just zone in from the Steppes like normal. That might be a bug or a strange design decision. You can get to any part of the Upper Tunnels though if you blow up the right walls. Here's one map:http://eq2.gamepressure.com/maps.asp?ID=98And here's another one:http://maps.eq2interface.com/map.php?zone_id=2If you have invis you can get all the way through without even fighting anyone if you're in a hurry. Hope that helps!Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLereVaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere

Thanks for the maps, Othesus!  Just what I needed.  No one else has mentioned whether they can still zone in from TS after getting the glowing shard, so I don't know if I should report it as a bug or not.  Maybe it's working as intended, but the reasoning behind it eludes me.  Why, after winning trust, should I no longer meet the requirements to enter the upper tunnels?

It did that to me with one of my characters too.  I decided to clear old quests and still had the "kill 15 undead gnolls in the upper tunnels" one, so I went to zone in and "you do not meet the entrance requirements."

So I clicked my glowie shard and ported straight in and decided to do the 3 quests in there again.  Only takes about 5 minutes for Harclave, maybe 10 for the arena, and 30 for the hideout after all.  But as soon as I got in to the bottom and entered the 1st quest instance "Ding! You have earned the trust of the gnolls."

Funny, I thought I already had it. . . . .

But after that I could enter the upper tunnels again.  Go figure.

You also can't get in if you are over 60 and mentoring. I was trying to help my husband and some friends with my healer and I couldn't help them with that instance. Which was annoying.

I have previously been through the uppertunnels many times entering both ways at 70 and haven't had a problem, unless this is something pretty new.  I have been trying on and off to finish the collection quest from there and still haven't, and I will be very unhappy if now I can't even enter the zone.  What is the point in blocking it? You can't get XP, everythings gray, you can wander around blow up walls etc but what benifit is it?  What benifit can you get that warrents blocking it?
