I have a question about the following change When access restrictions wear off of a chest/corpse, all items that are picky about who can loot them will be removed.  If this would leave the chest/corpse empty, it will be removed. Does this also apply to all Lore items (ie class set pieces), or just things like language quest updates?

Can we get some feedback on this?

From what I understand about the update notes, this does include class set pieces.

So if a name only drops fighter breastplates, and there is only 2 in the raid and they already have the equpment, Nothing will drop?????

I have the same worries about this change.

But, What about those darn Snuffing the Fireknight pages. I have been trying to get page 7 in New Tunaria for about 1 and 1/2 months now off and on. I was asking to buy loot rights to it, but I guess that is out of the question now. SO I guess I will grind it out for another month or so trying to get the rarest page of all. Wow what fun.SMILEY SMILEY SMILEY

Was this honestly a problem for anyone? Ever? I don't get this change and honestly it has killed my recent enjoyment of the game.  I was having a great time raising up a newbie going through all the old world zones and, YAY AND JOY OF JOYS!!!, finding quest starter drops for my main, who is one of the top questers in the game (though nowhere near the top top). Now, all of that excitement and joy of finding something new in the old original zones has been sucked away by a change that I can't see any serious players calling for.

I've been playing since launch and I always thought people were overreacting to all the changes because I played EQ1 since launch before this and I know that changes are a part of making the game better (I even played a ranger in eq1 so I should be more jaded than most about this). But this one.... just kills me.  Thanks SOE, after all these years you finally found something to suck the wind out of my sails. I haven't logged in for a week because i've been waiting for this to be fixed, or at least hear something from the devs about what the (il)logic is behind it. Half of the fun of leveling my alt is gone now.

I agree, as a quester this change is a real "kick in the guts". Since the change all I've been inclined to do is harvest, there's little fun in questing anymore, or killing names, with the loot currently broken.I can't see what was so bad about items dropping that you couldn't use, or had already used. Who wants a clinical, and perfectly smooth MMO experience, if you can't use the item, you can delete it, or sell it to a merchant, but the big thing is it reminds you that the quests are there and you have then the option then to take a alt to the zone and farm for the quest starters. These changes, as I have stated before, are counterproductive to gameplay.

Oh, never fear, you can still get 15 copies every page you dont need.  These pages will still drop and dont poof even if everyone has one scribed and an extra in their bags.

Collection pages like Father to Daughter (or vice versa, can never remember who wrote whom) and the firelight pages dont seem to be included in the 'poofing magic show'

Stuff noone wants isnt affected.. only items people might have a use for or which might be of some value are made extremely annoying to get. So dont fear, your bags will still fill up with things of no discernible use or value, but you will be less troubled by things of value and use. yay.

No, it does not apply to class set pieces and items of that nature.  It's only talking about quest items that only show up if you're on the quest requiring the drop.  It's to reduce chests losing their access restrictions but hanging around because everyone who tries to loot them gets the "There is nothing you can loot" message.  Ideally this shouldn't happen anyways, because quest items are usually desired by everyone who had access in the first place SMILEY

Unfortunately, it also has the added effect of making it impossible to kill a mob with a lower level alt, and then loot a quest starter piece of loot with your main when the access restriction wears off.

Can this be reversed for the non-language quest starters?  Or can we talk body drops for quest starters?

[Explanation]:

Trivial Loot no longer includes Quest items, so Quest items will drop on gray encounters.

If you would like to thank him, go ahead and send $5 my way which I'll make certain reaches him.

Well the two of you just made my day... This is great news!

Do you take Canadian dollars?

Thanks again!!

** Wait - One question, or rather clarification ** Does this mean that quest starters that are currently chest drops will now still drop in grey encounters?  **

Yes.  A chest will drop from the gray encounter, but the only thing in it will be the quest starter.

OMG I don't know whether to shout for joy or cry in frustration. I gave up trying to do all quests because I missed so many quest starter drops. It must include chest drops, very few quest starters are body loot.

Is there any any chance this will also apply to book pages?

Ah this is very cool, nearly makes up for the new looting rules. But to clarify, the chest/quest starter / quest item will still not drop if I have the quest? It will only drop if someone in my group needs the item?

Good news, now I wonder if there are any plans to make language items drop properly when in groups or when killing multiple mobs?

This whole thing is such a pain. I would often delete a quest item so I could pick up the trunk item when alone so the chest wasn't there for an enemy to tell someone was around. Now I can't - just have to leave the chest laying there so anyone coming along will know someone's been there.

Idk why they spend so much time fixing things that aren't a problem when there's things that Are a problem that don't get fixed.

OMG!  This is one of the best changes you've made for us questers.  I can't thank you enough.  Great job on listening to our concerns and keeping the game fun for those of us who have Quest O.C.D.!

Btw: is there a plan that all language quests will scale to max level ? You've change all the "old world" quests, but forgotten the DoF and EoF languages, and as it works now, its really hard to complete these quests mentored SMILEY
