![]() Hey all. I started a Dark Elf Assassin awhile back with the intention of betraying him to Ranger. I've always like the idea of the Ranger, wanted a somewhat unique toon, and assumed that both Predator classes were capable of producing the same amount of DPS. My question is how often do you see a Ranger out-DPS you? Grouping and raiding. I know there are alot of classes that CAN get the top spot of the parse but I've heard that a skilled Assassin should almost always be owning the parse. Any truth to this? My reason for betraying back to Assassin would be mainly for my guild. We don't have any Assassins and I'd love to play a needed role for raiding when we're ready for that. Btw, right now my Ranger is 41. Thanks!! |

None of the rangers I raid with can out-parse me anymore. But, the rangers I raid with all use the raincaller. From what I understand, if the ranger has a top end bow, assassins cannot touch them. If the rangers i know could even afford a torn ligament or rigid scale bow they'd probably beat me. -h

A top end ranger is as good as a top end assassin, with the right gear, buffs, etc. They might have a slight edge still if they're using the rare ammo. They really need a top bow and rare ammo to do their best, though. Assassins are a *little* more forgiving on the gear end. I'd say it just depends on which you like better. Assassins fulfill a slightly different role on raids due to their hate transfer if you need that on the raid.

Not anymore on the aggro transfer utility. My raiding group has taken the assassin out of the MT group now in favor of an extra healer/buffer. At least, thats the setup we're currently testing out. RL thinks our hate generation services might no longer be required. -h

Most top guilds seem to run tank+dirge+coercer+HT for max hate with two healers. Going with 3 healers and no HT is gonna be tough IMO.

Rangers are the top dps in the game at the moment. They really need a top bow to get there, though. If I were you I'd wait till the next expansion and see where everything is at then. Might want to pick up assassin 67-70 masters in the meantime. Even if you don't betray you can sell them for big $ a month or two post expansion.

from what I have read, there won't be the 14 level spread for abilities like there has been. So having masters from 67-70 may not be any benefit at all.

Rangers should out dps assassin's, but it is VERY gear dependent. 4 weeks ago I was an assassin, close to mastered aside from the rares and in good gear. I betrayed to my ranger, and within a week, I had decent gear again, granted I play pvp so I canget gear with tokens, I was out dpsing my assassin. And ahh, Torn Ligament Longbow is a fairly common drop, easy to get and cheap out of unrest. Rigid Scale Bow is crafted outta EH and is the best bow in the game, TLL isnt very good=P
