just a few questions to the higher up wardens.. i'm currently level 28, full mc'ed, adepts, and right down the melee line in the EoF tree with 3 in each melee attack. i can hold my own against most mobs my level and higher, pretty easy. i've read through the first two pages on this forum and found a few threads on melee spec wardens, but nothing on it's effectiveness in soloing compared to non melee. now my question is, is there a better way to solo?should i be going melee to solo, or nuking with spells? and does me being melee spec [Removed for Content] me as being a healer for groups compared to being non melee spec?(i haven't done any grouping yet on this char) at higher levels is it going to be as easy to melee down mobs as it is now at these lower levels?

what are the usual play styles for higher up wardens other than healing, ie: root nuke or melee? -Onions, Oasis.

It really depends on your personal preference, do you like being up smacking the mob in the face? or sittin back and throwin some nukes? Either way works well for wardens, you will still be a very reliable healer, and either way you will be able to solo fine.

Melee spec'd: You will be able to shell out more damage when melee spec'd, how much more depends on your gear which it can be hard to come by gear that has STR and WIS on it. So you will most likely be taking a hit on your power pool to get your STR up, but you compensate for the low power pool by having Boon, which is your free/no power group heal proc off melee attacks. You solo'ing ability vs. solo con'd mobs will increase but your solo ability vs. heroics/nameds will decrease because you will be taking a good amount of damage fighting it straight up.

Caster spec'd: Less dps than melee spec'd but not too far off, from what i hear a melee spec'd warden can hit around 1500 dps if in the right group, personally I am caster spec'd and can hit 1k dps in a good setup grp. Your solo ability is slighly slower than melee spec'd but you will have an advantage vs heroic/named mobs because you have the root/nuke ability, wardens have the best roots in the game.

Either way you will still be an effective healer, whether you are in a group or raid, just depends on your personal preference on your style of dps. Hope this helped SMILEY

I am a nuke spec'd warden, and the soloing style of that is:

Get a tank.  Make him find a group.  Nuke and heal to your heart's content.

Ok..kidding.  For soloing, I usually just nuke and melee bash, healing every so often.  If it's a group, I might group root/nuke - and if it's a tough mob, I'll definitely root it and nuke/refresh root till it's dead.

The problem with being level 28, as we've discussed in some of the threads here...is that you don't have the benefit yet of some of the spells you get at higher levels, and you don't have the uberiest of armor and weapons available to you either.  I'd like to think the Devs coded mobs to correspond with armor...but I kinda doubt it.

I'd focus on STR if you are going melee, but don't neglect WIS - since it's your power pool..no matter how melee spec'd you are.  You still need +WIS or +Power items in order to be able to solo well with not a ton of downtime.

I did go sta/int lines when levelled up, and not melee. Had no problem nuking down the mobs and keeping myself alive. I didn't hunt that much heroics alone, and if I did it was blue/green, and with root/nuke tactics. Solo mobs I never bothered with the roots. Only time  I got problem with solo was when they got red and I did resist too much.  And this was with mostly treasured stuff, but with decent quality spells (all adepts1+, with master or adept3 on the heals and self mit buff)

One of the most important things for soloing is our self mit buff. Get it up as high as possible including AA especially if meleeing. Being able to survive an extra hit or 3 to allow time for rooting or healing is very important.

For root/nuke style, up your int as much as possible and get as many mana regen items as possible. Power potions if nothing else.

For melee, str/wis gear as others have noted. Get the 75 crit line and max out all the ca's except for the dot. Get a power stealing proc adormnent for your weapon or a slow mob proc one. I don't remember what they are called off hand. Str line for KoS AA's.
